It was there but I don't think it was visible on the finished product...

Totally agree with this. The animated episodes of The Invasion are awesome. Been listening to The Evil Of The Daleks and I'd love them to animate it...

I agree, they need to animate 'Evil of the Daleks' IMO.

And some posters are sounding like they think I don't like the classic CGI. IMO; they need more of it in new who. New Who is too fake, but they need to balance them out. EG: Use Models for Spaceships again, and just finish them with CGI, and try to replace the Space shots/Exterior Shots in the classic series with the new designs, but make it the Model/CGI mix thingy. The only bad thing about that is that it means we will get less classic DVDs a year, and it is slightly expensive.

I was hoping the BBC would do this too, I think it would be worth a lot of money to them if they could pull of animating the lost episodes. The Invasion was nothing but a success and as those two episodes were mostly action-driven rather than through dialogue, even narration didn't really give it much clarity previously. At least through animation you get a rough idea of what the original episode was like.

When I first watched the Invasion, after a while you stop noticing that it's animated.

But why should they replace the old designs with the new ones? Stuff like the Sontaran ships didn't need re-designing in the first place!

I think the old shows have a certain charm about them.

I vote they be left well alone

To be honest when we first saw Prisoner Zero in it's natural state I thought 'Mara'. The CGI this time round hasn't been that brilliant. I loved the 'new' Gallifrey but then I love the 'old' one as well. Some things work, some don't, but there's still no reason to diss the classic series by judging it by recent standards, like some people for some reason have problems watching monochrome so voluntarily miss out on some of the finest films and TV ever made

Quite agree. The important thing should be the quality of the stories not trivial matters like whether it's in colour or black & white or whether it uses CGI or model shots.

I think they should do New Who in the style of Old. That forest in last week's episode would have been much improved if it were some potted palms in Studio TC3.

I re-watched Planet of Evil not long ago. The jungle set still looks amazing.

I did a 'Next Time' trailer for 'Terror of the Zygons' - and added in a new Skarasen. I certainly think this story could do with some updated CGI. It's a brilliant story that is spoilt by one particularly bad special effect.

I also updated the Pertwee/Baker regeneration scene with new music and special effects. Not everyone's cup of tea, I know, but an idea of how a Classic episode would turn out with a modern

No offence, but to me these two clips have just reinforced the impression that this should not be done. The new Skarasen looks great, but the substitution of the old theme for the new just makes me more aware than before of how vastly superior the old theme was (the new one hasn't a fraction of the eerie, dramatic quality of the original), and the music over the admittedly improved regeneration sequence is just cheesy and intrusive (as, indeed, it often is in the new series itself) robbing the scene of some of its dignity. Sometimes, less is more.

You're not the only person to have said that. It's a real 50/50 split between those who dislike the lack of music over the original scene and think the Murray Gold music is an improvement - and those who felt the lack of music actually gave the original scene some gravitas.

Background music seems to be kind of the default option on most TV drama now, and I really wish it wasn't, because a lot of scenes would work far better without it. If the scene is well shot and well acted, you don't need mood music in order to get a reaction to it.

Hartnell too. Every episode exists in audio form, but some Hartnell and Troughton episodes are otherwise lost, and a few of Pertwee's are only in black and white, even though they were all made in colour.
