I'm still pretty new at posting on this forum and read with interest the passion that doctor who fans have about the show. It struck me that sometimes we seem divided by which era we grew up watching. Is there a divide between New who fans and classic fans?

Are older fans patronizing to new comers to the show since 2005. Are new fans missing out because they're lack of knowledge around the shows heritage?

What gets your back up?

There isn't any patronization.

Some of us are Old Who fans AND New Who fans.

It's all just Who to me!

I say: we're the same, you and I, the same! I like both, but there are large tracts of Old Who that I really can't be bothered with. I'm sure I read a top 150-or-whatever-it-is of the classic stories as voted for by viewers on a site somewhere; anything after about position 30 seemed a bit beyond my level of effort.

What gets my back up?
People who dismiss the old series and mock people who stubbornly think that the previous incarnations of the Doctor will never be beaten, feeling that they should get with the times, but now these are the same people who are saying that David Tennant will never be beaten.
Grrrr!
Now maybe they should follow their own advice and get with the times and get behind Matt Smith.

Tom Baker will always be the man to me, but I'm willing to go along with the new dudes if I don't have them forced on me as the supposed best.

Don't worry I'm not as angry as I sound and my back is not too far up.

The only thing that get to me sometimes is when the old series is dissed by people who never watched it. Or dismiss it just because it's in Black and white or has low rent Special FX

Hi,

We would prefer it if users stuck to posting only about the show itself (or to an appropriate subject of the forum you've decided to post in) rather than the fans of the show. Unfortunately threads of this nature usually turn confrontational and personal.

Apologies for any inconvenience.
