I had this with the BBC channels at the start of April from Mendip transmitter. It affected more than one box and turned out to be a problem with the data transmitted by the broadcaster.
(I don't know whether the data was unusual but valid or if it was invalid)
I reported the problem to the BBC and next day the problem was gone. (I'm presuming they did something).

Thx for the info it seems that u may have something here as mine come from mendip and bbc was a prob yesterday. I did wonder if it was a transmitter prob. I hope that its not the box as i have a few recordings on it i was thing about formatting the hard drive in case there was a error on that.Thx for the info..

When I had the problem, I tried re-formatting the drive and a First Time Installation. Neither worked, so I wouldn't try that.

Why is a softdate update necessary if the problem was with the broadcast data and if that has now been corrected?

As I said, it isn't clear whether the problem is that T825's can't cope with the unusual but valid data. Or that the data is incorrect.

However, if its the latter case I can't see why, when you select to record a programme, the box actually sets a timer for a different showing of the programme.
This would imply that it's the former case and it is indeed a problem with the firmware.
It seems to me that it's similar to the infamous split NIT problem that afflicted some Freeview boxes .

Incidentally, as I explained in my earlier thread on the issue. I don't have access to my PC to look at the data, to see what's different with it.
I certainly feel Vestel should look at this, however, with the ongoing mystery over the non-appearance of the expected new firmware, I doubt there is much chance of this. I can see more boxes going back for refunds!

Unfortunately, you're right that Vestel do not seem to care about issues like this and are more than keen to lay the blame with broadcasters. Also, I may be completely wrong, but reading between the lines I don't think Vestel are involved directly with that part of the software, and instead it is Cabot in the UK who implemented the Freeview+ features and the corresponding bugs and lack of responsiveness. The implementation is far from perfect.

That said, I have not noticed any problems like this with series record on my T835 box, and I doubt the software has changed much, if at all, in the areas that affect this.

As I understand, the middleware is Cabot but the implementation requires work by the manufacturer, so its difficult to know who has responsibility.
I feel I've done so much research on this that I now know far more than I should do!
What I would like to do is find someone with a different make of box that also uses the Cabot middleware. Do they have this issue from Mendip?

I know someone who has a box that gets transmission from stockland hill i will ring him and find out as i told him to get that type of box for ease of use he would have told me about this issue so i can only think that it maybe be a mendip prob. It seems so strange that lots of people are not saying the same thing fro this area of the south west..

It is strange, I know of three reports. However, because it is strange, I feel Vestel should investigate.
(Actually, I feel like visiting Vestel to ask them why they don't even acknowledge emails and don't seem to be able to afford five minutes to let people know what's going on with the promised download. - but I'm too sensible for that!)

I think the most likely candidates to meet that criteria would be Daewoo DSD-9502 and DSD-9503 and the Technotrend PVRs such as the Technosonic PVR101 and the Tevion PVR801 and PVR1620. Although the Technotrend units had an earlier version of the Cabot Aurora middleware without the Freeview Playback Phase 2 functionality so may not be relevant.
