At the start of June, there is a concert taking place at the Edinburgh Usher Hall, featuring the proclaimers, and it is to celebrate the anniversary of the "Hands off Hibs rally" that took place 20 years ago to help save Hibernian Football club. The Proclaimers performed at this rally all those years ago.

To celebrate this anniversary and thank the proclaimers for their support, I have started a campaign to get the Proclaimers song "sunshine On Leith" into the charts for the week the concert takes place.

Originally in 1991, this song charted at 41, so we want to get it into the top 40 by asking people to download the song from 31st May.

I have already had a bit of media coverage. The sun, the Scotsman, and the Evening News have all ran stories on this -

http://deadlinescotland.wordpress.co...05/15160-2932/

Obviously to get the 5000 sales required to get into the charts, I need to spread the word as much as possible. Could anybody possibly post this onto as many music forums that they are aware of.

Please download the song from the 31st May, and join the facebook groups -

If you try downloading the track from the same source more than once, it will only count as 1 sale, but if you download from different sites, each download will count towards the charts -

As well as iTunes, there is the following -

Tunetribe - 49p - http://www.tunetribe.com/product/the...1690591&aid=19

Play.com - 70p -http://www.play.com/Music/MP3-Download-Track/4-/5065904/Sunshine-On-Leith/Product.html?aid=12103978&P36=MDG54W&affid=tuneche cker&awc=buyat&_$ja=tsid:11516|prd:tunechecker

Amazon - 89p - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...necheckerco-21

Tesco - 99p - http://www.tescoentertainment.com/st...th/2:38658439/

7Digital - 99p - http://www.7digital.com/artists/vari...hine-On-Leith/

Beautiful song but I hate these crass campaigns to artificially insert songs into the charts.

I'd walk 500 miles before I'd take part in one of those shitty campaigns to get a rubbish song in the charts!

I agree with your sentiments about campaigns to get songs into the charts but Sunshine On Leith is a beautiful song.

It certainly is, trouble is, as a fan of The Proclaimers, I already own the song about 4 times

I have had an email from the proclaimers manager today to inform me that Craig and Charlie have decided to do the following -

any royalties earned that week from downloads of Sunshine On Leith they will pass on to the two charities that the Usher Hall concert profits are going to Alzheimer Scotland and Hibs Former Player...s Association.
A fantastic touch from the guys I'm sure you'll all agree.

Load the e-mail up, hit the print screen button on your keyboard.
Go to paint, edit - paste.
Save
Go to a imageshack.us
upload and paste the link here.

Sounds a lot, but is actually quite easy.

Or if you prefer, you can send it to my show's e-mail address and I'll do it.

Personally, I cannot wait until Christmas when there will be so many "we control the xmas charts" that Facebook will become unbearable, none of them will work (which is good) and that'll be the end of that!

However none of them will be on the scale of last years unless they want to protest. Facebook has several of them going on at the moment to play tribute to drummers etc. However they won't work and the numbers are small. It's hardily unbearable.

The novelty wore off, people proved Simon Cowell doesn't have control of the charts and a mass movement could put anyone at number regardless of the song (Although a good song does help)
