Why not just leave the straighening out for a while. Just use product and maybe wear it more casual. Work with the layers not against them. Also when you have just had your hair cut it takes at least two weeks for the hair to sit properly.

When you straighten the layers, curl the straightners towards your head rather than just straight down. It should stop them from going so flicky.

I'm slightly puzzled. I've got layers, I straighten my hair with GHD and they stay straight. If I was you I'd follow chipstick 10 's advice and work with them. Flicky soft layers look sexy, poker straight hair all the time does get boring. Try a bit of wax on the ends of the layers to tame them.

trust me if you had my hair you would NOT be saying that!

Did you take a picture in to the stylist to show her? I would go back and see her if you're that disappointed and ask her to show you how you can work the short layers in a way you like until they've grown out a bit. I'm sure she/he would want you to be happy, and help you. Good luck!

Do you use a heat protection spray before straightening? If I don't the ends of my layers go all dry and won't behave. Make sure you use a good conditioner too.

This totally. If you are regularly straightening but are not strengthening and protecting your hair before doing so, it will break eventually.

I would recommend Kerastase Ciment Thermique as a heat protectant, it is excellent.
