Absolutely. I loved seeing William Hartnell's face suddenly popping in the episode, even if it was by the means of a library card !

Yes, I loved that, what a nice touch!

And amusing too! You could well imagine The 1st Doctor hanging out at the library while Susan was at school...

I wonder how the First Doctor would've reacted to having been surrounded by buxom women like that. Probably a cheeky flirt or two like 11 did. Hartnell may have had to be carried off set after a rush of blood to the head or elsewhere though

Hartnell did a Carry On movie so I reckon he'd have managed quite well .

She could have been at a school in a different time or on a different planet of course, but in 1963 when she was at Coal Hill school, library cards didn't have photos!

Ah but he was in the possession of a TARDIS, so while she was at school in 1963 he could surely have been visiting a library in 2016...and back in time for tea.

No he couldn't because he didn't have control over the TARDIS in those days!

yeah I am thinking Matt Smith is a sort of younger version of William Hartnell actually.

Well he might not have gone directly to the library...he may have detoured via ancient Rome and a planet in the middle of a civil war on the way

Yes but it was the first one Carry on Sergeant from 58. Not quite the same as the latter Carry On's.

Link to IMDB is you need it

My initial reaction to that was to dismiss it, too much evidence to the contrary (even the fact that was a picture of him "older") - but then I remembered the line last week about time being re-written; could be a sneaky way for Moffat to sort the regenerations issue out nice and early - though I'd still like to see a "final" Doctor scared of the end and perhaps wondering then why he regenerates...

Was it a Carry On film involving soldiers and the Army?

Edit: Ah, I just spotted the post a few above this one.

Technically, he's an older version.

Doesn't matter what you start a thread about in this forum, the geeks have to turn it into an " I know more about the show than you" arguement.

Argument.

Joke. I really had to do that and I apologize. I ALWAYS make spelling mistakes and gramatical errors. But yes. I see what you mean.

They're alternate spellings, we're both wrong/right.

In the grand scheme of things, does it matter, it was just a nice touch.

Kind of sad that William Hartnell died about 35 years ago.

Sorry just brought a bit of unnecessary gloom to the thread.

Probably Totters Lane. Should be, anyway.

76 Totter's Lane, Shoreditch, London. The address of the junkyard where he was living in the first episode in 1963.
