I don't like John Partridge anymore
His comments were a bit ridiculous... Can't remember exactly what he said about Jessica's performance but it was something to do with the song choice that she could do nothing about anyway! She did her best with what she was given, the Mary Poppins song was an odd song choice but she handled it really well... Its like Stephanie with Mr Bojangles...
I just sometimes he just critiques on the overall performance that he felt, rather than taking into account that they don't get to choose their own songs and often they are very inappropriate when casting a Dorothy. Same goes for Jenny tonight. I just find him a bit of an idiot to be honest at the moment!! Arrrgh |

Does he not realise that people are stupid enough to actually believe his bullshit? |

Yes! At first I sometimes agreed, but now I just think for Gods sake, they did their best with a tough song! He's very biased in his responses. I actually think Charlotte is probably the most impartial actually. Sheila ALWAYS wants "a bit more"

John is an idiot what he said to Jessica was just stupid!
He has beef about Sophie and obviously has favourites. Plus he's cheesed me off as he's put me off Christian in EE

Is there even any point in having the judges?
At the end of the day it's the public/ALW who decide. |

HAHA I loved him in Cats... although I didn't know it was him back then... Used to learn the choreography to his part by rewinding the video! He was my hero... and look at him now lol.

The man speaks from experience as a successful, acclaimed and popular West End performer. Listen to his Electra on the Starlight Express recording - the guy knows what he's doing.
I strongly expect he's being told to be "the bitchy one" since all three judges seem fairly nice people. Perhaps he drew the short straw. His criticisms often seem a little forced - and when they cut to him during performances he's always loving it - perhaps a bit too much!

I think they do it to manipulate the public!

His comments about Steph (I really hope people pick up the phone and vote for you etc.) and then her not ending up in the bottom two
His comments about Stephanie then her being in the bottom two.
His comments about Jenny's song etc then her being in the bottom two.
I think there are some people out there taking him seriously. |

I don't doubt his talent at all, but I don't like his comments sometimes. You're right though, they always need a Mr Nasty.

He's a great performer, everything I've seen him in he's been fantastic - but yeah I too am getting a bit fed up with him on this show! He treads the ALW party line so closely, which Barrowman didn't do when he had his own opinions...bit tedious now.

Someone or someones on the show thread referred to him as Diet Barrowman, and I think that's his problem, he's always going to be compared to John Barrowman and he's always going to come up short.
He's not as big a personality as JB, he's not as successful, and he's not as credible. By that I mean he does seems to be toeing a line, be it gaining favour with ALW by talking up his favourites or being the Mr Nasty producers want. Say what you like about JB I was always sure his opinions were his. |

It would be interesting to see how much the judges are told to say if at all wouldn't it. I keep thinking though that if they were told what to say, wouldn't it have come out by now?
Sometimes I am baffled by their comments though and think they must be saying things to manipulate the public I see your point but why would it have come out - pissing off ALW by revealing the mechanics of the show would hardly be a good career move for any of the judges on these shows!! |

It's often the case with these shows, especially on the BBC. I do think something could possibly come out about this show though, or perhaps this may be the last series of ALW looking for a star though. |

Apart from a stint in CATS which he was good in and his current stint in Eastenders which he is ham in, what is he notable for? I think he looks quite menacing when he is giving his feedback and it all seems to be a bit ALW bum licky. Is he after the part of Scarecrow or what?
There's not good vibes between him and Hancock. Surprising really when you think about it

I think he's actually a very honest judge, and I generally agree with him. I can usually see the point the other judges are making too. He's not bitchy, he's experienced, twenty years of it. Saying he's 'ignorant' amazes me to be honest. |
