I absolutely agree.
Can't understand why anyone would complain about money being spent on it. It worked on so many levels for me.

I love Italy.
I love Doctor Who.
Love Matt Smith
Love Francesco De Mosta.

After watching Confidential, I can understand why it went to Venice after people were complaining about it like "OMG THEY WASTING LICENCE PAYER MONIEZ!!!". The episode was certainly Justified.

The good news is Francesco's Venice is being repeated on BBC4 on Mondays/Saturdays. The bad news is it doesnt appear to be on the iplayer so if you missed ep 1 tonight, thats it.

Interesting stuff - shall have to add Venice to my ever increasing list of places to visit.

Exactly.

I dont know if you watched BBC's election coverage on Thursday into Friday, but they laid on some lavish yacht out on the Thames, with hundreds of "celebrities" and journalists, getting sloshed... and they say an educational trip to supplement BBC's flagship Saturday evening show is a "Waste of Money" ?

Joke.

"They" don't say. One individual who didn't want to be named (ie. the usual newspaper "source" also known as non-existant person) complained.

It's just newspapers making a storm in a teacup. It's not like they complained about the whole production crew going to Croatia, after all. But Matt Smith going to Venice....oh no!

It's like these papers actually think we're all thick or something.

I just love Venice, it's such an amazing place. I think they did a great job with the actual episode (filming in modern day Venice would have been hellish alright...) and I absolutely loved the confidential episode as well. I can't imagine it would have cost *that* much to send them to Venice for a day or two. (I don't pay a BBC licence as we get it for free, lucky us but I wish I could divert the licence fee I pay for RTE to BBC instead because the only thing I watch on RTE is sport! ). I watched Francesco's Venice afterwards though I had seen it when it was on first time around and I have the accompanying book too. His hair has definitely taken on a life of his own since he made that series, actually made Matt Smith's hair look very deflated

I didn't realise until the guy doing the voiceover said so that he was also the guy playing Alien fish-woman's son

I really liked the "Death in Venice" DWC last night. I had been to Venice a few years ago (And Caught the end part of the Venice festival in St Marco Square no less) and I have to admit out of the places I have ever visited while at College Venice is one of the places I would adore to go back to and experience again

Aww, I loved the bit with the old woman and her goat! I'm so glad she made it into the final edit.
