Gone off Danielle - her voice was poor last night
She was one of the worst performers yesterday. Her voice was decidedly ropey and she struggled with some of the notes (even in the group songs). I dont think her voice is strong enough for night after night stage work.
I dont think any of them are quite right for the role but at the moment only Sophie seems to be in the right ball park. Lauren has a great voice and stage presece but she looks too old for the role. Steph's voice isnt strong enough. The lord must be sweating. |

I still think Danielle is the best one there overall, especially for the role of Dorothy. She occasionally shows some limitations vocally that can easily be worked on, but she's miles ahead of the others in acting and presentation. Sophie is now my (distant) second choice for the role, but she is far too raw at this point in acting and movement, and her voice isn't all there yet either.
Lauren and Steph are both very good, but neither is right for Dorothy. I became convinced of that tonight. They will be wonderful in other things, but they are both too sophisticated and modern for Dorothy. Jessica, on the other hand, strikes me as more of a character actress than a traditional leading lady, so I don't think she's right for it either. It's down to only Danielle and Sophie for me now, and I think the one who will really be able to pull off the role the best is Danielle. |

I think there's more of a case to say Lauren is the Chosen One in terms of song choices so far, but she just isn't clicking with the voters. I wouldn't be surprised if she goes next week (don't think it will do her any harm in the long run though). For me Steph is probably the front-runner after last night but Danielle is still the one I'd be most interested in seeing on stage in whatever role. There's something very beguiling about her, a sense of an old head on young shoulders. I hope she gets another upbeat number next week (seeing as she's only had one really up-tempo song so far and knocked it out of the park). I'm sure Jess will have a big future too - she is right to play up her quirky characteristics which may make her a stand-out for certain roles. |

Lauren the chosen one based on song choice! You are joking! Every week she gets a really boring, miserable song that just isn't resonating with the public despite consistently brilliant performances

The song choices play to her strengths imho - I'd like to see her given something outside her comfort zone.

Yeah I also thought Lauren would have been great doing on my own, although I think Danielle may have had the slight edge acting wise.
I think it is a bit silly to keep thinking Danielle is 'chosen', why would they deliberately give her a song which they knew might highlight her weaknesses?! That doesn't really fit with the grand plan now does it?! I think people need to start giving Danielle a break, she is just an 18 year old trying her best like the other girls....

Pretty much agree with what Snoop said. Danielle did not have a good night last night - no use pretending she did - but it did her no favours to play that clip over and over again of the one phrase in On My Own where she got very shouty. It just reinforced the negative.
It was an interesting programme yesterday, and I was personally surprised to find that the one who really impressed me was Sophie. I so did not agree with the panel about her performance! All the others showed flaws: I could not believe the praise heaped on Steph for a very mediocre performance of Somewhere; Jessica demonstrated her strengths as a character actress, not Dorothy, and got very out of breath; Jenny and Lauren (both great vocals) showed sophistication but no vulnerability. I know people on this forum get very hot under their collective collars about 'manipulation', but I think ALW was right to remind us that this competition is about finding the right person to play Dorothy, not the person whose singing we most enjoyed on one evening. Despite the flaws, I think the remaining contestants are all excellent in their own way, and will all have good careers on the back of this exposure. Danielle remains my choice as Dorothy, but if she stays in the competition she will have to up her game next week to convince the Great British Public that ALW is right to have faith in her. |

Although I have always liked Danielle I did'nt think she was particulary good in the acting task. Although Sophie is not the stongest singer I think she is one of the better actors. I would have liked throughout this series to have seen a bit more of the acting tasks as the role of Dorothy requires more acting than singing

This really puzzles me. They didn't show enough of the acting task, but from what I saw of it, Danielle was great, Steph and Jessica were over the top, Lauren was just strange and Jenny lost the dog but did a pretty nice ad-lib to try to cover it. Maybe people didn't think Danielle was good because she didn't overact like most of the others. Sophie was pretty good, too, but she seemed to be trying a bit too hard.
I wish they had shown more of the acting task, because I think it would have given us a better picture of who was good and who wasn't. |

I think ALW loves Danielle because she looks right. |

Danielle wasn't at her best last night, I agree. I'm not going to pretend it was a great performance but it wasn't - however, I really think she suffered from everyone having high expectations of her from last week. Mambo & On My Own are two completely different songs, so it was inevitable that her performance last night would be a let down.
Providing she's there next week I hope she gets another fun, cheeky song to show off her performance skills.

Personally I've never warmed much to Danielle but I acknowledge that Mambo last week was excellent and she's had some good moments. I thought last night vocally she was weak ... however for me it wasn't just the vocals... On My Own is a song that always reduces me to tears and moves me emotionally, yet I wasn't moved at all last night!
On top of that I thought her acting in the Toto task seemed very stilted compared to the others ... the judges keep harping on and on about how in the theatre everything has to be larger than life as opposed to TV, yet I thought Danielles acting in the task was very 'quiet' ... I think that's why they didn't show much of it to be honest ... again in the medley she didn't shine either ... Maybe it just wasn't her night, but I thought the other girls did much much better last night. I'd have loved to have seen Jess sing On My Own ... it would have been brilliant to see what she made of such a simple emotive song. Personally I wouldn't go to see Danielle in the show, having said that I'm not sure Steph or Lauren are right for the role either ... they are strong performers but maybe not right for Dorothy ... Jess is my favourite after last night and I still think Sophie could make a great Dorothy with a little confidence and time to rehearse ... |

I totally think they should be showing more acting tasks (and forget about the ridiculous random tasks!) If we're going to fill up the theatre to watch a musical, there is going to be as much acting as singing, I'd imagine, and that's not factoring in the acting within the songs. I also have always liked Danielle, and think she'd nail the acting tasks - she's subtle, properly in character, rather than it being an obvious facade. Plus her 'Kansas' accent annoys me less than the others... Sophie was good though, I think she upped her game last night. |

I don't think Danielle did that well yesterday, her voice really seemed to struggle even in the medley she was the worst. Sophie and Jessica are my top two and want one of them to win and even though I like Steph when she was singing in the medley all I could think was 'this is just not Dorothy' same goes for Lauren. I'm not Danielle's biggest fan but she could play the role of Dorothy much better than those two as she seems to have more of the charcteristics and youthful looks.

I wouldn't say i've gone off Danielle but i was shocked at how bad she was last night and it now worries me that she might not be capable of playing Dorothy.
On My Own could have been a series winning song for her and she blew it big time. |

Danielle was disappointing last night - her voice didn't seem up to the job, very shouty and uncomfortable. She's allowed one bum performance though. She is a great talent.

I agree with others that she's never been that great.
It's been a case of the emporers, or lords, new clothes, from the start. Her acting isn't great either. It seems to consist of the same, slightly confused, questioning look to camera, every week. |

I agree she was pretty poor last night although adversely I think that might have kept her out of the sing-off. IMO she deserved to be there much more than either Jenny or Lauren!!

I thought last night was one of Danielle's weaker performances. She was very shouty at the top notes especially when she sang 'I've only been pretending' - 'pretending' sounded odd. But I do think that she will probably win and probably deserves to win.
If Danielle doesn't win I think Jessica will. I thought she was one of the weakest at the beginning but she's really grown on me. HOWEVER, I reckon she has the weakest voice left in the competition - this will be a big hindrance for her. Lauren is a great actor and singer but just always seems to mature to play a 12 year old. Same with Steph. These 2 need to be given songs which can show their innocence a bit more. Sophie is good but her acting isn't all there yet. She's great in the group performances though. |
