I don't know about that, Danielle is always the most interesting and convincing when she 'acts' her songs imo. A lot of the others seem to just pull funny faces or do that sympatheticpuppyeyes at the camera thing that boybands seem to love doing.

Exactly! I've seen it done better by amateurs in the Les Mis school edition, in auditions, in cheesy talent shows - and we're being asked to take her subpar performance as reason to vote her into a leading role in a 2000 seat West End theatre. Nu-uh, ALW!

I think she has a good voice, but needs more training to fully control it. And to develop the stamina needed for a WE run.

I love that song and she was not great

Have people noticed Danielle's favourite way of expressing emotion, a little run forward then stamp your feet? ..... She does it a lot.

I half watched it last night and thought I'd give her the benifit of the doubt and fully watch it today ... Totally undewhelmed by it, she could have done so much with it. I think, and I'm no pro singer, it's not a difficult song to sing and a very easy song to act. Should have done so much better ... It when she sings "preee-tendaing" that really gets me.

I do like Danielle so I think that's why I was so dissapointed my it.

My thoughts exactly! I do like her and I was very frustrated with her. I expected her to completely blow me away.. and she didn't. I was kinda "meh" with it..

Depends how you do it. If you sing it straight and can belt the top notes its easier. If you play it as vulnerable, damaged Epoinine you can back off the big notes but need the character and the emotions. If you act all the emotions they change every few words. There's an awful lot of them from anger to love via despair and being reconciled to your fate. There's also a difference between the bits when you are thinking back to yourself and when you are in the now. As its currently acted you also switch from talking to yourself, walking around and then coming right to the edge of the stage and fully engaging the audience. If you sing it in RP English or whatever Salonga speaks in , you don't have to worry about sounding like your parents in the show. If you try and sound like them most people can't sustain the accent. If you are in accent and following the emotions and moving around the stage its getting very complex. If you avoid the big climbs they are no problem. If you can soar through the big climbs it sounds great but shoudn't a girl struggling with emotions sound like its big climb for her ?

They all do that. I assume they are told to do it. It's very annoying.

Indeed. Lauren more than others, to be precise.

I have never really been a fan of Danielle - especially when it became clear she was Andrew's favourite, same for Jessica (I was quite pleased that they were both in the sing-off, because of Andrew, not the girls themselves).

To me she is a little too shouty and her voice tends to be quite shrill at times. She was especially screechy in Could it be Magic and again in On My Own, and I wasn't overly impressed with Just a Little Girl - and was a little confused at the fawning over her after it.

I thought Mambo Italiano was good, but it was a good song. The other girls could have done it just as well, if not better. Jessica was given the same 'fun' type of song this week, but unfortunately it didn't quite work as well as they obviously hoped.

I think she's good but the other girls are better than her vocally, and all but Sophie are better than her performance-wise.

Last night Danielle missed her chance to go streets ahead of the others and show true star quality.

She went first which was the best position for getting maximum votes

She had a gift of a song

She looked beautiful
But she didn't deliver.

On the other hand all of the other Dorothys upped their game and even Jenny was better than Danielle last night.

If any of the others had turned in that performance, they would have got mauled on here.

She was lucky to survive this week and I really do not think she will be Dorothy.

Agreed - She was first, had the best song and a gorgeous dress.

That dress was simply stunning. I note Jess who followed her, had on a ridiculous comedy outfit. Strange they didn't shove Danielle in an Eponine-like outfit.

See:

Danielle gets fab red dress and best song. Jess gets ludicrous outfit and silly song. Fair? I think not.

I was unimpressed with her interpretation of On My Own. It is one of the most fantastic MT songs. She made it seem dull.

Talking of dresses I loved Jenny`s dress Would like one the same but either with two sleeves or none

Thought Danielle was very poor and surprised she wasn`t in the first sing-off actually.

Yes, that was grating on the ears. She was much better on the rest of the song though, and they really did the dirty on her picking that bit as the clip to be shown with the phone number.

LOL. Also blinking rapidly and looking confused/resigned/annoyed.

Not to single her out... they all have things they "fall back" on. I notice a constant sad smile on Steph's face, and Lauren often has a familiar pained expression on her face.

Bad state of affairs when Kaite Holmes rendition in Dawson creek is better .... One of my fave songs I thought it would have been great as I did quite like her.

They should have taken it down for her. It was out of her range for her belt voice. That caused the problem.

Danielle was my favourite after Jess, but I don't think she sang 'On My Own' at all well and I was terrible disappointed. I also don't know what Sheila Hancock was on about saying Danielle's acting was the best either. What ever it was led her to that confusion...whoops I mean conclusion!...we certainly weren't show it.

It was a gorgeous dress - one of my favourites this series (not that there has been a lot to choose from).
