Like many, I really liked this incarnation from the very beginning - but I think it takes some time for someone to embed themselves into your mind as 'the' Doctor.

For me, I realised that somewhere in episode 4 I had stopped conciously judging the performance, stopped thinking about Matt Smith playing the part, and stopped comparing this incarnation to Ten. I was just watching Eleven and thinking of him on his own merits.

I do not usually get "involved"in forums( I am a watcher- not bad, just an informed cocktail party type-- and you would not believe how may doctor who fans there are drinking very fancy cocktails with no reality show involved), anywhoo, Matt got me interested again- As much as David made me wait to hmmm "download the episode" ( you have never read this trolls on the internet and any lawyers-- ) thought it was getting too ,for the sake of a better word , artsy.
Ok I watched Hamlet ,I kept waiting for him to take out the sonic screwdriver--- omg, I just killed the bard!!
Methinks the bard would have gotten a kick out of the Doctor> They may have drunk bad beer, but they were clever!! ( and drunk)
Anyway, back to Matt, nice , clever, enough sauce, gets the human thing..and my goodness, VOV,,, "think of the children" ( and the facial expression)..very witty.... my other got the joke about the buxom space fish ( he would) ,
This is a thread about when Matt Smith became the Doctor. When he met Amelia,,no question.
If you do not like kids , do not want to help kids, no understanding , you are not worth much ,human or The Doctor. Any questions?
He is funky cute by the way--- make no wonder men cannot understand women , thats the charm... He got the charm..... lol

I agree with you marcie - he really is charming, nice and funky eccentric all at once. Very difficult not to like him. In fact he's probably the most likeable of all the doctors so far, much as I loved DT in the role.

However, it took me until the Time Of The Angels to really accept him as the doctor as for me, he didn't seem to have the authority that you expect from the Doctor up until then. Probably had more to do with the scripts which had Amy saving the day twice. I think he's a very good actor with a nice flair for comedy and I really like him in the part now.

Straight from the start to be honest. His first actions and words suited the Doctor in my mind perfectly.

Hi MJ, it happened the other way round for me. The Doctor became Matt Smith at the end of the end of time

Right from the start for me. I saw the Matt Smith interview before he had even started filming and I knew he would be perfect for the role, the role requires personality and he has plenty.

thanks reality
( why do I have a headache?) oh yes... someone agrees with me thats why
why do we ( i include myself) think the Doctor is ....?
human? Nope,, but the Matt nuances ( speach and face) , are effective... why do I have slinky smirk on the back of my mind? it must be the nuance ..
t he kids do not get it ? or are offended? ( the sexy stuff? i saw more than that on the Two Ronnies and I got a monlogue for a treat)
Overall, so far, effective .mature,, thank you to to the writer(s) for not dumbing down the older audience .(except for the winston churchill thang--- multi coloured daleks?, cricky winston would have ? fill in the blanks--- orgasmic history? bet that word will get cesnored... no offense, you all know what I mean ... fill in ?
