I would add those as exceptionally funny scenes too, I must say.

It would have been even funnier if the BBC in their wisdom hadn't shown him popping out of the cake in one of their trailers! If I hadn't been expecting him to appear it would have been funnier, but it was still the funniest scene of the entire episode!

Just to ad, the scene where The Doctor meets the vampire girls would also have been funnier if I hadn't seen it on Jonathan Ross before the series started.

Must stop watching clips!

I didn't see the trailer you refer to, but the moment the cake rolled in, I knew the Doctor was going to emerge from it! I couldn't think of a logical reason as to why he'd decide to make that entrance, but I knew it was coming!

Don't you just want to know how he talked the stripper into letting him trade places? He knew a fair bit about her, clearly.

It was part of the trailer for the three programs, Who, Total Wipeout and Graham Norton, to promote early Saturday evening viewing. It was just a short clip amongst others from the series.

Yes, would love to have seen that stripper scene!

Timing, delivery, expression. Just brilliant.

You can imagine them havin a chat outside the pub. It seems weirdly in character for the 11th Doctor to know she was diabetic though. It's the kind of weird thing he would've winkled out of her. The way Matt whispers 'diabetic' just makes me laugh so much.

Also "Out! Out! Out! Out!!"

Hell no, it was probably the most dullest pre-titles opening we've ever had.

I don't know if it was the funniest, but certainly pretty funny.

Have you just dropped in here to piss on our party?

No, I've dropped by to give my opinion on a question the O.P asked. I belive it's what you do on fourms or maybe that's just me.

the "diabetic" line is truly, inexplicably hilarious, and it's all in the delivery.

The more I see of Mr Smith, the more I think he may well be a truly great comic actor (he's on less sure ground with the more serious stuff, but he may well grow into that.)

That's your problem with online forums, you can never tell how things are surpossed to be taken.

I agree. It's all in the delivery. The fact it's whispered, with a hint of pity...it's just bloody funny.

One scene which had me laughing out loud was Jon Pertwee in the TIme Warrior pleasantly talking to Sarah Jane Smith and then telling her to put the kettle on and make herself useful. Then he has a go at the professor for using the TARDIS as a blackboard.

Sorry, I realise my post might read a little stroppy now. Just thought it was funny how you puctured our little love-in.

Yeah, I noticed that when I watched it the first time. And the way he absent-mindedly waved his right hand to 'unstick' himself from the 'cake wrapper' looked unrehearsed and akward and added to the nuttiness of the scene!

Oh, for those who wonders if he's a good comedic actor, he was in various comedic roles with the BBC before the Who stint.

The episode wher Rose destroys the daleks?
The scene where the Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) snaps his fingers and a hole opens in Rose's erstwhile 'boyfriends' head.
And when his mum comes home and screams.

Rory: And you kissed her back?
Doctor: No, I kissed her mouth.

Excellent. Laughed lots.

From the classic series, I'd say the whole scene where The Doctor first meets Scarlioni in City Of Death. (I don't think he's as stupid as he seems, My dear, nobody could be as stupid as he seems!)

From the new series I love the whole humour between The Doctor and Rose in Tooth and Claw. Especially that bit when Rose tries to speak Scottish and The Doctor goes. 'Don't do that.' and when she tries again. 'No, seriously, don't do that!"
