I'm always out of tune when I sing it.

Why is it that they nearyl always seem to do the group numbers almost entirely in unison, even when there are no solo lines? It makes even quite fun songs very boring. I think that's why I liked the happening so much, at least there were essentially two parts ot it. even in the 'mashups' they don;t branch out into any sort of interesting harmonies or arrangements. I fI went to a west end show and all the big chorus numbers were sung in unison I wouldwonder why I had paid to see them...I know it would be a bi more to learn if they had harmonies but it would make better tv.
There, now I've been wanting to say that for a while, and I feel better for it

I thought this weeks show was one of the worst to date, I didn't really enjoy any of the solo or group songs much, but I did think the right two went home.

Didn't think anyone was out of tune - but noticed they totally left out the belting section (look to th western sky) but if Danielle (during her solo) is an example, I can see why they left it out. It was left out in the Glee version as well - both characters singing it would have been way to screechy.

I don't like that song much, I could hear Lauren and Jessica singing in parts and both of them were perfectly in tune.
Danielle's dancing left something to be desired, though. I know she moved confidently and impressively in her performance of Mambo, but sometimes in the group numbers her dancing is noticeable...in a bad way. If she is left in the final three with Lauren and Steph, Danielle will really have to watch out for this as she is so strong in other areas. Overall Defying Gravity wasn't the best choice of song for a group number. Get Happy, the Trolley Song and others have been so much more exciting to watch. xx |

Still don't like it! The first time I heard it was when Samantha did it on IDA and I thought then - where's the tune? It must be SO hard to sing.
Talk To the Animals is more my style! I thought they were brill in that.

Defying Gravity is one of my all time favourite musical songs, and I agree with people saying it's hard to sing. Vocally and projectionally it could take alot of you but it's a good song to use when you want to see someone really lift the bar and stand out from the rest. Which is why I have full respect for anyone who dares to play Elphaba! (the character who sings it in Wicked)

Someone was making it sound very harsh. I would say Danielle or Sophie. Probably Danielle.
But in the Chorus bits of Somewhere Over The Rainbow when Jessica went I noticed that Sophie's voice was very harsh on my ears. I'm not sure if she was out of tune or what but I didn't like the sound! |

I love Sam singing that part in IDA.
If you play it back on you-tube you will notice that Sam was as shouty there as Danielle was in On My Own. The s just need some training - the basic voices are good. Think Sam might be stronger than Danielle.QUOTE: I think they leave it out because it doesnt really fit the situation. DG can be used as an inspirational song, but the references to the Wizard and Wicked in general dont tend to fit. I guess in this use it would have been alright, but I can certainly see why it was left out of Glee, or in any of the released versions by former Wicked actresses. (Eg, Idina Menzel, Kerry Ellis) QUOTE It was MT night still think the full version should have been used - they did sing the line about Nobody in All of Oz. In Glee, they didn't. Doesn't really matter though - Dorothy doesn't sing anything nearly as difficult and the brief was for pop sounding not a full on MT belter voice. Anyway, I think it's a dire song to sing as a group and pretty boring with out the dramatic belting bits. |
