I thought it was dire. She was singing the song but there was no passion, no excitement. Sheila wouldn't have liked it!

I saw Christina Applegate in SC in New York and she was brilliant, even though I could tell she wasn't the best dancer or singer in the cast, she totally nailed the character Thanks for posting this.

I have heard that Tamsin is really good so perhaps she had an off night?

yeh I hope so. I'm sure she looks and sounds better on stage where she's been working for ages.

Direction wasn't brilliant, but performance was fabulous

It's interesting that Tamzin's performance has come in for so much flak. Yet she sang it perfectly in tune, did some competent dancing and acted it decently enough. So why was it, well, DULL?

So a big thank you is due to Moontaker for posting that clip of Christina Applegate's version. Christina is not the greatest dancer in the world and some of her notes were flat or shouty, but BOY did she deliver!!!

That, I think, is a perfect example of what we need to keep in mind when we're voting in this competition - it's Over the Rainbow, not X Factor.

To be fair to Tamzin, I gather that this number was pre-recorded earlier in the week without an audience, so she didn't get that instant feedback that would be there in real time. But still, I was disappointed.

I feel bad for Tamzin - although I didn't enjoy this production of Sweet Charity much, she has been ill this week, and I think her TV performance suffered because of it. On stage, and in full health, she's much better!

She just hasn't got what the Dorothy's have got - a beautiful voice. Actually I thought she sucked and I would have liked The Partridge or Sheila Hancock to have critiqued that performance- mediocre in the extreme.

It just seemed like there was no passion in her performance,no fun, it seemed like she couldn't have a laugh with it and she was totally bored. It looked like a quick rehearsal before a show rather than an actual performance. She sang the majority of the song the same, there was no emphasis on certain words, no nothing. Just dull. Maybe I'm comparing it too much to the girls performance of the song.

It wasn't bad but then it was not that great either, i watched the show with my mum tonight and we both said it was quite underwhelming really!

Went to see Sweet Charity this afternoon and she is excellent on her own stage with her own sound system at the right settings and fully fit.

Someone posted that the Dorothies could play the role but having seen it, they clearly couldn't. It looks the nearest role to Elle in Legally Blonde around and needs the accent to be maintained and great comic and acting skills. Charity needs to be able to sing and dance with some of the best people around as well as playing a complex character that the audience has to like. I thought Tamsin was really spellbinding.

Everyone else in the show was impressive too. They seem to have also followed Legally by backing up their star with a team of leading ladies in their own right to make sure the other roles work too. The only problem is that it all ends a bit suddenly and that as only Charity is a likeable character people were not jumping to their feet for them all at the end.

If Tamzin could do the final routine in Chicago I reckon she would be a superb Roxie.........she's can do the comedy with a darker side and she looks really good now in a cast thats got a Roxie , a Velma and a Roxie understudy in it.

I thought it was ok. But she hasn't got a brilliant voice, even she admits that. And that grin. boy did it annoy me.

They had the sound so you couldn't tell that much difference between her and the real belters she was with. Thought it worked because she's meant to be the ditziest, weakest, smallest, most vulnerable, nicest girl there, so the vocal I thought matched the character - you didn't want another Velma there? With a name like Charity and a story and character like hers is written wouldn't you grin a lot?

well the grin looked odd. like it was plastered on. I didn't like the performence she gave on over the rainbow. But who knows she could look good on stage.

I was surprised because I thought the OTR team had employed a soundman who knew his stuff this series (we could hear people sing, they didn't get drowned out by their music and we didn't have them going off tune because the couldn't hear their music) Listening to her on the Theatre Royal stage I though the sound was very different - more volume and very clear. I wonder if she sang it as she normally would and the OTR soundman just set the settings wrong.

BRONCHITIS. She had it at the time, everyone has their off days and it was just unfortunate the otr recording was one of them.
