My picks

Scouting For Girls
One Night Only
The Fratellis
Metro Station”

I'm completely serious. They were a good band for the first two albums but the rest is complete and utter dross. Turned into a rubbish pub rock band churning out album after album of uninspired and uninteresting soulless tripe.

Jealous of their success over the bands that the people who hate them prefer. So the hate just grows and grows.”

What a ridiculous theory. I don't give a damn how many records my favourite acts sell, I just want good music. Grow up.

I'm afraid you can't be taken seriously.

Back it up please.

Have you heard all albums?

Have you listened to Don't Believe The Truth? . . . Dig Out Your Soul?

Oh. . . NO?! Shocker.

You've trudged out the old "NME turned against Oasis and I actually agree. . . cus I'm cool".

Listen to the music and then judge it please.

Typical Oasis fan. Can't get over the fact that *shock horror* someone doesn't like their precious band. You like them. That's fine. Why are you getting all worked up because someone else doesn't?

Edit - I couldn't care less what NME or any other critic says. I make up my own opinions thanks and no, i won't be subjecting myself to Oasis's albums again.

Because you've said they released 2 good albums and the rest is soulless.

You didn't answer my question. . .have you heard the albums to actually judge them?

Yes and I don't like them. I lived with die-hard Oasis fans up until about 4 years ago and believe me they were played non stop. I don't like any of the later albums. Sorry.

have to agree.

i'm not a fan of boybands as such, but to be fair to Take That, Backstreet Boys, JLS and whoever else they actually have released mainly original songs, unlike Westlife who just rip off any old song with their usual "stand up off the stools at the keychange" routine.

I'm baffled by their success, most boybands have a 5 year lifespan. Westlife's fans seem to be sticking with them as they grow old...I can honestly see them ending up like Cliff Richard, with masses of wrinkly fans treating them like some deity.

You don't like them. . .and so its soulless tripe and utter dross.

Hmm.

You call me a typical fan. . but that exact quote puts you in the "typical ignorant Oasis hater".

Their second last album was great and contains some very beautiful songs - Let There Be Love, The Important Of Being Idle, Part Of The Queue. Dig Out Your Soul is one of my favourite Oasis albums and it annoys me, genuinely annoys me, when people like you spout rubbish like the thing I've quoted you above.

There's no way you've heard Dig Out Your Soul and yet you talk about it like you have. You've heard only the singles. . .just like EVERYONE ELSE who says : "Their first two albums were good, the rest is shite".

That's why I get annoyed.

Yes I disagree with that aswell, the standard did drop but there's still alot of good music on the other albums. The only album I will say is pure shite is Heathen Chemisty.

Noel Gallagher did make the worst decisions ever though, Countless songs that could have been saved as number 1 singles or even just great album tracks were wasted as B sides, thankfully they released a compilation but it's still irritating that most people haven't heard this music. You know you've done something wrong when your B sides consistently outclass your A sides.

Anyway let's move on shall we?

My controversial pick

Westlife
Boyzone
JLS
Gold_Fish

Bands = people who play instruments
Groups = Westlife, JLS and all that crap

Anyway, I can't stand Scouting for Girls. They're pretty bad.

Wow, pretty much summed up my feelings too. I don't have an intense dislike for them because they don't seem relevant enough for me to feel passionate about, but it's mind-boggling why people would limit their musical tastes to this tedious group.
Even other music I can't stand I give some credit to for being unique and if the artist is exposing their own personality.

Perhaps, but only because he credited them with two good albums, its an album and a half tops. Still makes them about a thousand times better than most of the Britpop era bands: Dodgy, Ocean Colour Scene, The Verve, Toploader....

Can't believe we've not had more shouts for Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Travis; you know, the type of band who make music for people who hate music.

Have to add my voice to the Scouting For Girls hatemongers, the level of their success beggars belief.

Scouting for Girls are crap; juvenile tosh designed purely to be played to death on the radio.

Speaking of radio, on Radio 2 recently there seems to been a huge influx of bands whose songs consist of a guitar chord every 20 seconds, 2-note bass guitar played at the same pace and 4 notes on a piano all combined to create some sort of dreary, depressing bore of a song. Stuff like Ben's Brother, Keane and a bunch of other crap that's boring beyond belief.

A year or so back, in , I think, The Guardian, The Verve were encapsulated thusly (more or less, I'm recounting this from memory):
Quote:
“The Verve are much worse than people realise, when you think about it they only ever had one good album, and that only two good songs, one of which was actually crap and of the remaining song only the opening couple of bars were any good and they were from another bands song and that wasn't as good you think.”

It is more or less what I always thought about them, even back when they were simply 'Verve' and nobody thought they had any good songs at all.

There's many bands I don't personally like but I can understand why others like them.

However ,The Hoosiers and Scouting For Girls are so shockingly bad I just don 't get how anyone can like them.

I know one person out of all my friends who likes them. Surprised they're played so often. I agree that they're bad though.

I wouldnt say Arctic Monkeys are a terrible band. Terribly overrated though. I really dont understand all the love for them

EDIT: actually, I take back what I said earlier about Razorlight. I quite like some of their songs (America, Wire-to-wire), but I just remember trying to sit through their album and failing miserably
