Primus should I cancel direct debit

I applied to switch to Primus saver but have had nothing by email for 5 weeks apart from them confirming my direct debit setup and ebilling account .

I have contacted the call centre and gave my order numer and was told you will get a call from the team
today or tomorrow this was over a week since.

I then tried an 0120 number and explained everything and she said she was passing me on to someone else i got the please hold message for a few seconds and then got cut off so it seems they don't want to have speaks with me .

So is it too soon to cancel the direct debit or can it take a long time to switch ?.

Snap,we applied about 6 weeks ago. Phoned up and they didn't have a date when we would be transferred to them. We did get a letter off our current provider saying 'we are sorry you are leaving' etc, so something is happening, but Primus don't seem to keep new customers informed of what is happening and when.
