British researchers have developed an environmentally friendly garment that can simply be dissolved in water after being worn.

The dress has polyvinyl alcohol, a biodegradable substance that is used in laundry bags and washing detergents, knitted into the fabric. This enables to be dissolved into water without harming the environment.

What happens if it rains on the big day or someone accidently spills water over it?

“The project is a union between art and technology which explores the possibilities of using alternative materials for our clothing."

I wonder what other 'alternative materials' could be used for clothing?

Why not just cover yourself in white icing?

Then you'd only have to serve plain sponge as the wedding guests could just snap bits off your dress.
