Bridge Over Troubled Water - WHY??!!
I really enjoyed Musicals week, lovely to hear the girls singing some classics, but why on earth was Bridge OTW the second sing off song?
Not very MT and didn't fit the rest of the night! |

I know, that's what I thought as well. I'm not really keen on that song as well.
I can just picture Sheila saying "Bride Over Troubled Water needed to be more humorous" |

I can't listen to it now without thinking of Popstars where they seemed to sing it at least 20 times a week with no other songs for the whole series.

Don't they usually have an MT song for the sing-off?
Maybe to avoid MT overload they chose a pop song? I thought it was a strange choice too. I preferred Jenny's performance to Lauren's although agree with ALW that overall it was Jenny's time to go. xx |

That was a bit of a mystry to me too, you would have thought they would have kept the MT theme going. Saying that, I like the song-it was just a bit random!

It was used as a sing off in Any Dream Will Do as well.

I think it was because usually they sing pop songs so have a MT sing off, so because they were singing MT songs they had a pop sing off... would have loved to hear another MT song though!

It needed some sense of calm eddies in the troubled water and more sense of the dryness awaiting on the other side.......with more blue..........
Also, more sense of brown mingled with beige and a feel for the hardness of the stone with a sense of the Bridge being the joining of two worlds......one green and the other pink.

Every time they said " Bridge " they should have made it a different kind of bridge , it could have been a suspencion bridge in one sentance and a draw bridge in another , they should have made it fun to be on a bridge and sad to see the water flow under at the same time , while making it more purple and green and less beige .

It's a wonder Sheila didn't tell them to explain through mime what sort of bridge it was.... if it was an old swing bridge they could have sung it 'swing' stylee, maybe if it was an old clapper bridge they could have clapped all the way through it... If it was a suspension bridge the girls could have been suspended from the moon as they sang and had it been a cable type of bridge they could have worn cable patterned arran jumpers to sing in!!

... because it suited Lauren more than Jenny?
I love Jenny and think she is a lot better than Lauren, but on paper that song was a typical Lauren one to belt out! |

Shame it wasn't Jessica's sing off she could have sung in homage to the Transporter Bridge in her beloved 'Boro
