But this had me running, screaming in fear. Over my dead body. Eliza is an absolute bitch of a sing, requiring a pure and powerful soprano. Not Emilie in a million years. Not one of the Dorothys has the right kind of voice, even with a lot of training - they mostly have good pop belts.

Lauren might *might* manage it with training.

Of the girls who have appeared on these shows, there were few Marias who could have sung it - Helena, Siobhan, Connie.

Stephanie wants to do Rent - she sings Out Tonight well, haven't seen Rent but another poster told me that Mimi sings that, but Stephanie may also suit the role of Maureen. Sandy may also work for her, as Stephanie has the sweet side as well as the cheeky side - maybe she could even play Sophie in Mamma Mia. She wants to do musical theatre, but also pop. Sandy/Sophie would be good roles for establishing her in both

I see Steph being more of a Rihanna/Beyonce than a West Ender, but maybe she could play the female role in Thriller Live! I've seen it, but I don't remember the character's name being mentioned.

Jessica might be better with a primarily acting role not sure which. ALW wondered about Charity, and Tamzin O's voice didn't blow me away. so that might be about right

It would be some fight. Helena lists it as the role she most wants alongside Maria in Westside story. Aoife has described it as her favourite role in an interview . Its the other role Nancy Sullivan has mentioned too as being one she would do a reality casting show for - and she has an obvious advantage.

Leanne could sing it and her native accent is not that far off ? Don't know if Katie Hall can do cockney but she can do the final product...Niamh??

I don't think Aoife's soprano's up to it, though I'm sure she would act it really well. Of all of them, I'd give it to Helena as she could sing it well and do the characterisation. Katie Hall could certainly sing it, but I know nothing of her acting. I forgot about Leanne, who certainly has the soprano for it. Not much of an actress, but she's come on.

Niamh, good call - give that girl a few years and some decent training and she might well have the best voice of the lot.

Jessie Buckley has the notes for it, I'd forgotten about her too. And I'd be interested to see whether Sam Barks could sing it. I remember her head voice being a bit dodge (not that she needed it, with the range in her chest voice) but her chest voice isn't going to take her up to a high B/C or whatever it is.

Actually Sarah Lark could do it very well. Sarah or Helena would be my choice out of the whole lot of them.

ALW seems terrible at casting other people's shows. Charity is written for 8-18 years older. Legally Blonde is full of acting roles and needs comedy skills plus skipping while singing ability for some.. Chicago needs people to do the dance routines, there's a debate about whether anyone under mid 30s should play the leads and an implication in the script that Roxie has been married for 8 years.

Cabaret is in the right age range and given Sam and Siobhan have done it, you wouldn't be surprised to see someone in that soon? Eponine in Les Mis is in the right age range - it has been sung in lots of ways and although its acted brilliantly at the moment in tehe Westend that's not alway been true. Sam will have the job till at least next June though.

I wouldn't rate Connie singing SOM over Aoife even before Connie's problems- how high does Eliza go? (would link the youtube of Aoife singing the Lonely Goatherd but someone has taken it down.) Aoife's not played a soprano apart from in concert since SOM but she definitely is a soprano.

Nancy Sullivan is a soprano and native cockney speaker - that would take some beating......

Not sure any of the Dorothies could act the role and the accents even if their ranges and ages were right.
