Just had this in my post and it seems so at variance with the flexibility that we get with our Humax's..

As Freeview HD will broadcast in 1080i, you will need either a Full HD TV (1080p),
or an HD Ready TV that is capable of displaying pictures at 1080i (interlaced).
Some HD Ready TVs are only capable of displaying 720p or 720i so make sure you read the small print!

Hence i wonder is it true? and if so? how come SatTV is exempt this limitation?

It's totally inaccurate

All HD ready TV's can display 1080i, some use less pixels to do it with 1320 x 768 being common, the difference on a decent TV can't easily be distiguished from a 1920 x 1080 display.

720P is not a display standard it's a transmission standard that happens to be closer in native size to a HD Ready display than a Full HD display.

In fact all free to air HD transmissions use 1440 x 1080 which itself has to be scaled to whatever screen is used to display it.

You were right about my Plasma all those months ago..
I now find that the SXGA input is Optimised for 1280x1024 and for Verticals of 60.02 and 75.3.
