I'd say it's a 'pop' record. Whereas One Of The Boys was a 'pop rock' record, this has a mixture of that kind of dance, computerised music (California Gurls; E.T.), and then the pop rock sound with guitars and drums, not too disimilair to the OOTB era (Teenage Dream, Circle the Drain, last Friday Night, Hummingbird Heartbeat).

All in all a great album.

Little bit limited on money as College is looming and i need to pay for this and that so the album is gonna have to go on hold for a week or two. My leaked copy on my memory stick will have to do. I

Looks like it'll be Katy's 3rd US #1.

Remember, 'Teenage Dream' (the single) is released this sunday on iTunes apparently! BUY! BUY! BUY!

I can't wait for this album! I've only heard:

California Gurls
Teenage Dream
E.T. (Futuristic Lover)
Not Like The Movies
The rest will all be a big surprise. I love the above four though. This might be the album of the year!

Taken from Wikipedia:

According to Billboard, "Firework" will be the third single from the album and is due for release in October 2010. The music video is set to include competition winners from eastern Europe.

Sounds good to me

Im loving the album!

My faves are (Apart from California Gurls and Teenage Dream).. Last Friday Night, Firework, ET and Hummingbird Heartbeat. The rest are brilliant too.

Last Friday Night should be the 3rd single - According to its position on iTunes, its the most popular on the album. But I love Firework too

'Teenage Dream', the single, has climbed to #3 in America.

Not confirmed but heard a rumor that Katy perry is set to debut at number 1 with 200k. A huge improvement considering her debut sold about 90k peaking at nine.

'Teenage Dream', the single, is released tonight!

You all better be buying. I want it to go to #1 but the album is out the next day so maybe it won't.

I can't wait for the album.

Btw, Katy is on The X Factor tonight as a guest judge apparently. Expect her drooling over Cheryl and being her usual outspoken self.

Haha

I hope teenage dream is a hit. I can't see the album being big here. I mean i love it but the UK's tastes this year are just pure shit on things that are good.

I think it will do really well. The album's chart is where people usually have taste, rather than the singles. OOTB got to number 9. I think Teenage Dream will do much better. It ain't gonna flop. Katy has surged in popularity so much these past two years.

You speak truth, MJ_lives.

With monster hit CG and hit-in-the-waiting TD, this album is going top 3 at the very least.

The Klaxons (released last week) and Eminem (released months ago) are Katy's biggest competition.

In regards to this week's releases, Katy's album is by far the most anticipated:
Quote:
“Burn The Negative – How To Weigh The Human Soul
Disturbed - Asylum
Esperanza Spalding - Chamber Music Society
Everything Everything – Man Alive
Goo Goo Dolls - Something For The Rest Of Us
Heart – Red Velvet Car
Kano - Method To The Maadness
Katy Perry – Teenage Dream
Kirsty Almeida – Pure Blue Green
Magic Kids – Memphis
Maria Mena – Cause & Effect [DOWNLOAD ONLY]
Murderdolls - Women And Children Last
Papa Roach - Time For Annihilation: On The Record & On The Road
Phil Selway – Familial
The Pretty Reckless - Light Me Up
Richard Thompson - Dream Attic
Rolando Villazon – Mexico
Rose Elinor Dougall - Without Why
Shena – 2079
Sonic Syndicate – We Rule The Night
Thea Gilmore – Murphy’s Heart
Zarif – Box Of Secrets”

OOTB peaked rather low only because Katy was unknown at the time and it was only selling off the back of IKAG. Christina went through the same thing - her debut album only peaked at #14 (I think) yet it was released off the back of a big #1 single ('Genie In A Bottle').

True, it's just with the exception of Gaga, pop albums haven't really been the best sellers this year. Very few american artists have had a successful album this year. I am just going by what has been successful and not so far this year. I do hope I am wrong because it is a good album and deserves to be as successful as her first, if not, more successful.

Glad to know it

I'd bank n Disturbed going top 10, but not enought to threaten Katy. And The Pretty Reckless' album will probably miss the top 10.

Hence why I said people have better taste when buying albums

She was so fun on The X Factor!

Great personality. She's the sort of person you'd love as a friend on a night out etc!

Just wish she was on it for a bit longer.

BUY BUY BUY Perrysites!

If this gets to #1, her next single should get to #1 BEP-style due to an XF performance and then she'd have three #1s this year!

Katy was hilarious on x factor. But she doesn't suit being a judge. She looked bored and was doing it for a laugh. Fair play.
