But CONGRATS!!!! on the #1 Katy outselling the entire itunes top 10 is no mean feat can she amke it 2 weeks?”

Initially that confused me about the video, and the song to be honest. but I like it, I wouldn't have been fussed if the video had been kept as the emoji version.

and she has tweeted she'll be visiting the UK in September and October!

The album i take it or at least in my6 oppinion from what she has said is rather than dark and brooding she's flipped those emotions into a positive so in that sense the video works though i have a feeling it all may be a red herring and Roar is very much on it's own on the album

And yay i hope she does GN again or some of the big chat shows she is always a great guest.

I wondered what happened actually when Roar was released and it was heavily hinted that she was going to return with a dark album. The only thing I could think with Roar is that the message behind it is different to what you had on Teenage Dream, although they sound like they could be from the same album.

I can't wait to hear Prism though, be great to see what she has planned too. I'm hoping for either GH or Chatty Man to be honest.

I think she maybe bottled it and came back with an uber commercial single from the snippets of Dark Horse that seems to be very much darker almost taking the sugar and bubblegum away from songs like WAILF and Pearl. Waht i'm thinking is that maybe Prism will haev the feel of the second half of TD ramped up to 10 Either way uber excited for it

And I wold wish for GH or JR they are the two heav weights i love Alan but he doesn't get the coverage the other two do. But if she is doing chat shows she needs to be the musical guest too rather than just on the couch

Maybe, but then it was also the catchy comeback single she needed and it isn't too heavy so it caught on with the casual listeners. I hope so, be great to see more than just bubble-gum pop and to prove how diverse she is as an artist. I actually haven't listened to the snippets of Dark Horse yet

I forgot about JR, but out of the three I'm hoping for GH but you never know and I agree. Do you think she'll be similar to Lady Gaga in terms of performing at the iTunes festival? all new and no older material? I reckon she will, which is two weeks tomorrow.

Exactly it was a sensible and smaert move and this week proves that it was a samrt mover she ahs outsold Gaga in just 2 weeks And yes i want people to see that she is more thana bubble gum airhead im not even aware people know she writes the bulk of her own material and DH sounds really good

And GN would be best And i'm unsure i'd think she would have new material with some big hits thrown in

I haven't heard any snippets from Prism. I want to wait until it's released.

I had to listen to Dark Horse and it was perfection

Very different to Roar and especially previous work. If i had to compare i'd say sonically very much E.T kind of dark yet poppy and lyricallyy really great. You can certainely tell it's based on her Divorce.

I'm still one step behind haha, I've listened to the snippet but not the full track. Loved what I heard though

I still have no idea as to where we are at though in terms of dark and light the song is kind of dark but the lyrics a sort of F**K you of sorts. But the beat bassline and overall the song is fantatsic even love the rap definitely love it more than Roar but see why Roar was chosen

Anyone else watching her at the iTunes Festival?

No but i will get round to it

Heard Walking On Air though talk about 90's rave. We may not have had a mature approach but there is a clear chnage in direction and growth and i think Prism is gonna slay

I would have thought this thread would have been a bit more popular than this at the minute.

Anyway, She is performing on X Factor tonight. Seems to be performing Unconditionally as a "world exclusive", but wouldn't be surprised if it was Roar.

^ I'll catch up with that tomorrow, I'm gonna be out this evening.

I've just pre-ordered PRISM. I'll get the free mp3 download from Amazon tomorrow whilst waiting for my CD. I've only heard Roar. I've been avoiding the leaks.

I've heard her during the iTunes set, but I can't wait to get my copy tomorrow! I've got the deluxe version coming

Prism - my first thoughts: so far

1. Roar - pop anthem 'eye of the tiger of 21century style ' sounds amazing sand by groups of people ****
2. Legendary Lovers - wow ...such a surprise direction - celtic Katy...unexpected? ****
3. Birthday - comparable to last friday night , classic KP and LM...80s style... likeable radio friendly ***
4. Walking on air - KP moves on to the 90s dance scene... very true to the scene with a dose of KP radio friendly hit stylings...nice new direction... glow sticks ready? ***
5. Unconditionally - power anthem ballad... a strong song that reminds me of firework mixed with the personal touch from the album one of the boys ****
6. Dark Horse - aka circle the drain next level on.... absolutely sublime... addictive .... ****
7. This is how we do - stylistic KP, representative of this eras sound....sassy ... potential single radio friendly .... ***1/2
8. International Smile - teenage dream uptempo and more dream like .... eurovision-esque, daft punk-mirwais-esque...likeable and maybe more likeable with further listens... ***
9. Ghost - I really like her vocals on this track... apart from the 20-20 pronunciation bit... a great album track ***
10. Love Me - the most generic and safe album track ... very likeable and very radio friendly... **1/2
11. This Moment - it lifts the album at exactly the right moment ... ***
12. Double Rainbow - reminds me of Keane - this albums firework..and definite single release surely? ****
13. By the Grace of God - a fantastic album piano driven closer.... ***1/2

deluxe extras:
14. Spiritual **1/2
15. It takes Two **** 'classic pop song - melodic and catchy'
16. Choose Your Battles **1/2

my faves on the album: legendary lovers, double rainbow, dark horse, roar, it takes two

overall: 3.5/5

Wow - a pop classic - it really is teenage dream part 2 but perhaps slightly better ... from peoples early reports I was worried ... but its better than expected...a good flow as an album ...production is very good.....nothing more or less than what you expect from KP... a pop star in the making...

potential hit songs: in all honesty - it is clear that was the driving force ... i expected maybe 2 or 3 potential big hits but a majority of the album could be released as hit singles.... yet they gel well as an album ... thats a surprise .... i thought the rec company may settle for 2 or 3 big lead singles... but they seem to want to follow its predecessor

i really like the new album and i was ready to be underwhelmed following the negativity written in some places. the first listen and i was pleasantly surprised, by the third listen i think some of the tracks could actually be her best work.

she could easily lift 5 singles off this record again and perhaps even bag a couple more #1 hot 100 hits, but there is progression too, albeit marginal. personally, i think she is playing to her strengths again on this record and while some may consider that safe, i think it will prove a wise move ultimately.

Great performance last night

I hope she incorporated that performance into the tour with the whole men in suits at the start and then at the end with colourful dancers. It would work as a great closer to the end of her set list. Out of the darkness and into the colourful light.

It's today! Glad to finally be adding PRISM to my collection. I've yet to get my physical copy but I'll have a free mp3 download from amazon waiting for me on my laptop. I'm waiting for it to fully charge.

About to watch Katy's X Factor performance. I'll skip the rest!

Mine hasn't even been dispatched yet. I have noticed with Amazon, you actually have to pay a little more to get the album on the day of release. Where as before, you would sometimes even get it two days before it came out.

Yes I'm gutted that they've changed that. That's why I used to order from Amazon.

Right. I've only just started listening. I'm on "Birthday" at the moment.

I agree with the person who said that it sounds as if she bottled it on the "dark" theme and decided to go really pop again. I was hoping for something more along the lines of "One Of The Boys".

EDIT:

"Birthday" and "Walking On Air" - Am I alone in not really liking these two? I'm struggling to believe that these were two of the best songs to come out of the recording session... It's not something that I really want to say because I like Katy Perry. I'm not feeling it at the moment. I'm hoping that it will grow on me.

She may not have bottled it. The label would of likely stuck their nose in and made a change to that.

Loving this album, surprised it seems to have the opposite effect on many others. The albums making me fall in love with her all over again!

Unconditionally, Walking On Air, Dark Horse, Ghost, Legendary Lovers, This Moment, Double Rainbow, By the Grace of God, It Takes Two and Choose Your Battles are my favourites. I usually have a top 5 but can't pick at the moment.
