www.myspace.com/mia

Hmm, I'm not too sure about it. It's pretty average and doesn't really do much for me.

After Born Free I was really excited about the new album, but after this I am not sure. I hope the album is more in the same direction as Born Free and not XXXO.

It might grow on me, but anyone could have made this song.

Not too keen on BF, much prefer this, I think it's more mainstream too, could be a hit for her!

how has Xtina let down exactly??? it sounds amazing and different to mainstream which is why it's charting upwards every week, plus Bionic is set to be EPIC!!!

love MIA though, definately one of the albums i want this year after Bionic and Kelis' Flesh Tones.

After 6 months of 'my album is so different...ive been working with Ladytron and MIA etc'...getting Not Myself Tonight and WooHoo is a bit of a letdown. Its a shame to see Ladytrons tracks shoved onto a bonus disc. Its actually hilarious to think I was convinced Christina was Iamamiwhoami when, in fact, her creativity is limited to copying Madonna circa 1989-1993.

NMT and WooHoo are amazing dancey and uplifting songs which is what wee NEED now, and we havent heard the entire album yet, and i am glad she is copying
the Queen Of Pop Madonna bth!! what better influence?!?! i mean she has stated that she wanted something to express herself....so why not EXPRESS YOURSELF?!?!? and the video was a brilliant homage to M and her Stripped era too and i hope she developms that imagery further.
even though i do want her to experiment with the robotic themes that are on her stunning front cover!! but for a first video in years it is much better than a lot of tripe out there now, and she looks as beautiful as ever in the video.
plus NMT is so different to modern autotuned to death tunes that continually are on Radio 1, it's fantastic to have Xtina,Kelis,MIA,Scissor Sisters releasing songs that show a different scope to music and show raw vocals rather than machine quality pristeine vocals just for the sake of being successful.

the best artists take risks, and Xtina has more than done that over the years and my oh my is she back!!! plus her duet with Nicki is far, far, far better than anything else i have hear in the R&B genre for a while! and i am not overreacting...it is proper old skool and echos back to Can't Hold Us Down!

just waituntil you hear her ballads B)

Not a chance, sorry. NMT sounds like it could have been released at any point in the last 2 years...its nothing new at all, hence why the reception was one of great disappointment from the majority of fans and non-fans alike. She hyped her new album as some sort of fresh new sound which was being produced by a bunch of 'indie' producers...when in fact what we're getting is a rehashed sound that wouldnt be out of place on a Gaga or Britney album. That coupled with her new attitude of 'im such a sexual being' turns me right off her, sadly. I will listen to the album however as someone who has supported her for quite a long time, I feel almost cheated by her lying for months on end about how creative the new sound is when in fact its utterly boring.

The video is also thoroughly dull and whilst she clearly is 'paying homage', its not done in a creative way...in fact the Express Yourself section is a blatent copy of Madonnas video. I hate hate HATE to say this as well, but alot of the video has quite a strong Bad Romance vibe as well. Christina is better than this...she doesnt need to pay homage/copy other people and release boring material.

Hmm, I think that new Christina song is pretty much like a lot of other stuff at the moment. It's nothing fresh.

This song (M.I.A.'s) is growing on me, but I much prefer Born Free. I am looking forward to the album because her previous two are great.

And MIA flies in on a breathe of fresh air...with all these 2010 'comebacks' that I was excited about, MIA has been the only one who has managed to hold my attention...all the others have been blah!!!

I actually like the track. I'd be worried though if I hadn't heard born free first, that the album would just be a commercial pop album but I love the way her albums are always a mish mash of sounds, so excited for the album in July!

I'm in the same boat...I just bought the latest NME with MIA on the cover and only skimmed over her article but it seems that she doesn't want to just make music to make a point but she's has a new found love for music for music's sake. I'm really excited about this album!!!

I actually love it now

It's a bit more accessible than most of her stuff, but it's still great. I prefer Born Free over it, still.

She's doing it deliberately though. It's a poppy un-M.I.A sounding song with the line 'you want me to be somebody who i'm really not'. This will not be indicative of the album at all but it will get her radio play in the States allowing her to further grow her influence over there. M.I.A is a savvy lady and this tune is a great 'pop' song and a big 'f*ck you' to those who want her to conform to the pop singer mould.

That makes sense. It's kind of on a par with Paper Planes, which is her biggest hit, yet I think her least pleasurable song.

I like this a lot, it sounds surprisingly accessible, but still so much better than that awful Born Free song

Greg James has this as his record/single of the week on his afternoon Radio 1 show this week. I honestly can't get enough of this song! I've had it on repeat for the past 2 days. A beast of a tune!

There's now also an exclusive remix with Jay-Z on the track - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOvetfF6TsI - however the original is untouchable.

If you gave any random woman a large quantity of alcohol and got her to sing, then recorded it, it would probably sound identical to M.I.A.

A truly awful 'artist' ..

Do that and then post on YouTube for everyone to see and we'll see if you're correct.
