Obviously the ditherings at the BBC accounted for the 'No Waterloo Road'..
First it was BBC1 and HD..then it was only on HD.. then it was not on atall ...A Shambles..
As for the ITV..I checked several times that it was listed in HD and normal in the Normal guide and
then checked as advised here via RED button from Schedula..All there in print..
but when i switched on at 2130 to watch with janet in catchup mode..Failed recording it said..No reason..
Very strange as we could see the prog live by then..
Surely it could NOT have been due to my idly switching to listen to RADIO whilst janet was having her bath

Are you using padding or the 'auto' (ie;accurate record) setting? A lot of people lost Lewis and some lost The Prisoner recently. From what I can tell all of those that lost them were using accurate record. My suspicion is therefore that ITV HD is not carrying the correct start/stop signals although it's a puzzle why the problem isn't more widespread.

As far as the BBC goes I will note that I lost CSI:NY at the same time I lost The Prisoner. My Sky HD box recorded something else at the same time and my old DTT PVR also got CSI:NY so I think we can rule out hardware issues. My theory is therefore that the ITV HD problem actually confused the box and prevented it doing anything at all.

I have since switched to padding one minute before/after. I don't think accurate record is as useful or necessary as I once did and doesn't seem worth the risk. I got last week's Lewis after missing the first one and several other people didn't so it looks like a workaround. I'll try and remember to confirm if I've got Midsomer Murders or not. I'll be annoyed if I haven't, that's for sure. Got to at least see how the new guy pans out

The Info said it was 116 mins from 2004hrs but nothing there..
I do not watch ...it's my wife who recalls no problems over the years... with at times grotty boxes in use.
Just wandered around the FAVS etc..

What a waste of storage and resources..Does anyone on site ever use these.. I doubt it.

I use 'auto' and just lost the last 'Lewis'. All recent' Midsomers' have recorded as did the previous 'Lewis'.

ITV may be doing something odd/wrong, but it is very strange that the box is not behaving consistently.

Warerloo Road failed to record on my hdr as well. Two failures in such a short time one BBC 1 one ITV 1 HD looks very odd.

As reported in the “Lewis Failed” thread I had a few Lewis and Prisoner non starters but last nights Midsomer Murders is OK using one off episode recording which i am hoping is more reliable than series linking but then again, probably not.

While were taking a walk down Waterloo Road I thought (maybe wrong though as I don’t watch Waterloo or Holby) that this weeks episode was cancelled and replaced with Holby City that should have been shown the night before on BBC 1.

AFAIK Holby is’nt in HD so the BBC HD slot would have got replaced with something else while Holby was shown on BBC 1 and as the Beeb dare not show anything on the HD channel before it’s been out on the main stream channels we have confusion.

Also had a problem with Midsomer Murders last night. I was watching some other channel, but looking for the ITV HD recording sign to come up. The PVR was set up to do a series recording. This is the first one to be recorded, so I was keeping a watch on the TV, having previously lost 2 Lewis recordings.
As the time approached the PVR rebooted. I quickly went to the ITV HD channel. I'd lost the opening few minutes but set it to record manually.
I'm just hoping that the whole program recorded.

Incompetence? Tbh it isn't just ITV gets it wrong. Most broadcasters screw up from time to time. In my experience you have fewer problems with Sky but then I don't think Sky have an equivalent of 'accurate record'. It's easy to see how a broadcaster could forget to send correct start/stop information but a lot less likely that the EPG would be wrong.

Tbh it's still a pretty poor deal whichever way you slice it. They used to get the venerable PDC wrong twenty years ago and you'd think in this day and age the process would be automatic. Insert the tape (or whatever media they use) scan the barcode and program the equipment. Given the number of screw ups it seems more like it's a manual system. Manual entry of the information and perhaps (surely not!) some bod sat with their finger on a button ready to press it.

Anyway time will tell as to whether padding is the answer. I will say that my Sky box has been configured to use zero minutes padding for several years (another workaround) and I rarely miss anything so it's not like you're going to be gambling with start/stop times.

Series link is generally more reliably but there have been cock-ups there as well. Five often cause my DTT PVR to record repeats so you end up with everything recorded three or four times. Discovery HD seems to have forgotten to set the flag for one of their programmes and I was lucky to spot it while browsing the EPG last night.

Basically - you just can't trust 'em

Midsomer Murders is showing on my Foxsat in the same folder as the others and 122m long. I haven't watched it yet but I think that's a good indication that it was recorded.

Waterloo Road failed because the Beeb put on Holdby instead.
