Conflict Problem on Humax HDR
Geoff_W
14-05-2010
I'm trying to set up 2 recordings for next Thursday at 9pm, but the Humax keeps showing a conflict which shouldn't exist.

The 2 programmes are Have I Got News For You (BBC ONE9pm - 9.30pm) and History Cold Case (BBC TWO 9pm - 10pm). I can set up HIGNFY alright, but when I try to set up HCC I get a conflict warning for (1) HIGNFY BBC ONE (Ch. 101), (2) HCC BBC TWO (Ch. 102) and (3) HCC BBC TWO NI (Ch. 969).

I have no idea why the Humax thinks I want to record BBC TWO Northern Ireland!!

There are no other recordings set up for Thursday evening.

What's going on?

I had some strange occurrences when recording Damages in series link in the first couple of episodes. It also part-recorded Damages in BBC NI or something. It still recorded what it was supposed to record but I got these extra bits as well! No doubt whatever the fault is it will be related to yours.

The episode on 969 is episode 2 of 4 and the other regions are 3 of 4..

Setting a series recording on 102 the hdr picks up it has to record two different episodes at the same time so tying up both your tuners. Setting a single event recording for 102 will work or deleting 969 from the epg will allow the series recording.

Thanks Graham, I understand what's happening now. I'll just delete 969. Useful information for future, similar, conflicts!

Ive had this too, I keep the other countries channels on the EPG because they sometimes have football not on in England.

It gets really confusing with clashes as they dont show up as recording in the EPG.

The case above would have shown up in the epg, if the reservation had been made possible by cancelling the other recording reservation. There is another way this problem can arise. The BBC sometimes use only 1 CRID rather than the usual two. This flags all regions showing the same programme as different episodes so the hdr tries to reserve them all and obviously can't.

Sounds like the series link information being broadcast is inaccurate or that in the other region there is a repeat episode causing a conflict which was not previously recorded.

The series was one episode behind in N Ireland so a series record reservation correctly identified two different simultanous recordings at the same time.

102 Episode(3 of 4) Series crid KPW15J Prog crid 240AZAG
(and all other regions except 969)

969 Episode (2 of 4) Series crid KPW15J Prog crid 240ZAF

So in this instance both the codeing and hdr was correct.

No sure why this had no cropped up before unless it was the first time the OP had tried to set the series or may be this was the only reservation in previous weeks so the OP has duplicate recordings.

Last week there was a 3-way clash at 9pm and I chose to record HCC on my Toppy. I don't know why the NI episode is running behind, but it may have been postponed one week due to electioneering? Perhaps someone in NI can enlighten us.

I have had this situation occur a couple of times in the past and have got around it either by using the Toppy, or setting up a non-series-link recording. Now I know the cause I can take appropriate action. Not a lot of use though, if the situation arises whilst away on holiday.

Maybe I was looking at the schedule then where only the next program in the series shows up which is a behaviour I think the user should be allowed to change.
