According to this report on DS Lovefilm launched yesterday. I still don't see it in the widgets gallery.

So if C isn't in the model name despite the fact its a current LED model with @internet that cost over £1000 then i-player and lovefilm will not work?

When did companies stop supporting their current models? At least Mircosoft wait a couple of months before abandoning you.

Rant over!

If that's what customer services told you they're making it up. When I challenged them on this point, second line support called me back and confirmed that both Lovefilm and iPlayer would be available on the LED model I bought (just before Christmas).

I hope you are right, and indeed the lovefilm website says "The LOVEFiLM service is now available through a user interface on all Internet@TV Samsung TV models.." but if you click on 'Lovefilm ready devices' on this page it then lists the following model numbers. Models: C650, C750, C6500, C6510, C6600, C6900, C7000, C8000, C9000

These are the new models that replaced the UE**B7020 range.

If the widget has been released can you install it on your potentially obsolete 4 month old TV? It's not an option on my potentially obsolete 5 month old TV which you can still buy in the shops.

I hope I have to eat my words. Incidentally while looking for the new widget a FaceBook one appeared. On installing it never loaded and then next time it had gone as an optional install. Suspiciously this makes me think there are two internet@ platforms. Maybe it will all be solved by an OTA upgrade.

The new C-range Samsung TVs have a faster processing chip with different DRM capabilities, so it's inevitable that the B-range will miss out on some services in the future.

It's not just Samsung though, last year's Sony models aren't getting this year's catch-up services, and the older Panasonic models are in the same boat too.

Luckily they seem to have got it right this year, so hopefully they'll all be compatible with the eventual arrival of Canvas

So are you definitively saying the B range will not support lovefilms or the BBC i-player, despite the various other claims?

turned on my samsung blu ray player, lovefilm update great, went back in, screen showing, did nothing, then another update and its back to the normal screen, saying coming may, so I take it, its on its way, and must be having trouble with it.

What's right about depriving folk who've paid £1K for a telly, on the basis it could do all of these things?

If your set will not play BBC i player a good way is to get one of new Sony BDP370 blu-ray players it runs loads of online even runs I player in HD I have one its amazeing there are lots of deals out there it is really good blows my LG BD370 out of water on picture quality even plays Divx HD and WMV and SACD discs The problem with hard drives is most are setup NTFS and TVs and players read FAT files so they work of memory sticks but not hard drives unless formatted in FAT but then will only play smaller files under 4 gig .
