I have already had o2 broadband LLU for a year now without any issues,

Signed up to o2 home phone a few weeks ago and my o2 home phone service went live on thursday 13th may,

im on the anytime package £12.50 a month + family bolt on

The family bolt on includes caller ID, Call waiting and call barring

My line was connected all ok up and running, caller id works, call waiting works, call barring is working and can be switched on or off, to do this you need to use your pin which by default is 0202,

To change your pin you must call 14258 and enter a new pin,

Now here is my issue, when i call 14258 i get a voice message saying...

"Sorry, the service requested is not available, please hang up"

Its been like this for the past 2 days and im unable to change my default pin, so although i can use all my bolt on features i still cant simply change my pin.

I have called o2 and explained this issue, they are baffled but are looking into this issue, to be fair to o2 this is a new service and there will always be some teething problems and they are keeping me up to date with my issue and what they are doing, so for now its just a waiting game, im not too bothered at the moment but i have google searched for problems of this kind and much to my surprise i found nothing on this issue.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Are BT responsible in some way?

No, not as your line is with O2, they will need to sort this out.

When I worked for BT 14258 was for Choose To Refuse not Call Barring and I'm sure that only customer services could change the PIN.

It that different with o2?

14258 can be used for many services like changing default PIN, block a number, block the last number that called you and similarly check/cancel a blocked number.

@martytarty: Paul@O2 is dealing with your issue at the moment and will provide you an update as soon as he can.

Changing a PIN for call barring?

I never realised there was a default PIN for that like BT use 2525 for Call Minder and 1234 for Choose To Refuse.

From reading this http://www.o2.co.uk/assets2/pdf/O2_B...User_Guide.pdf o2 use the same codes as BT and you can't change a PIN for Call Barring using the code for Choose To Refuse on BT. As I say that needs to be done by Customer Service.

14258 won't work on the line as Choose To Refuse hasn't been enabled surely?

The default PIN is 0202 and in regards to changing the default PIN, we're currently investigating into this and will get back to you as soon as I can.
