ALW really got on my nerves tonight with his constant favouritism - then had the cheek to say, "I don't want to lead people, they should decide for themselves" - we will, thank you!! I'm sure Danielle would make an excellent Dorothy, but it's disrespectful to the other contestants to fawn over her so blatantly. Shut up already!

He is a judge, that is what they do.
It is not as if people will vote for Danielle just because Andrew likes her.

Andrew's a good judge. but he has his leage of evil voting for Danielle, they are in the trap door under the studio.

I agree. I thought it was just bordering on uncomfortable at some points, both on Danielle and the other girls. But really, I think Sheila is much worse. ALW at least makes an effort to mention some of the attributes each girl has. Sheila just... blabs on about how great Danielle is. Which is fine, she is allowed a favourite... but... at least PAY ATTENTION to everyone and give constructive criticism, maybe throw in a genuinly encouraging remark here or there... she seems quite snobbish about the whole thing and is so so irritating!

And what was up with John accusing Charlotte of calling Lauren screechy?? She didn't!! ALW said that...

i just thought it was funny that he said that he's not going to lead the audience anymore pretty much at the end of this competition. in other words he's pretty much out of opportunity to try and lead people anymore.

I thought he was a bit over the top tonight.

Him saying he didn't want to influence the audience was a bit redundant after he'd spent the entire show promoting Danielle - and I say that as a big fan of hers.

If anything, it will turn viewers off and cost Danielle votes.

And Lauren seems to be the panel's favourite. John P and Charlotte won't stop raving about her!

yeah i know that really annoyed me because ALW said last weekend that charlotte said that and she never did. all she said was not to hold notes too long all the time. and now john brings it up again and gets it completely wrong again. strange

He really is not doing her any favours and I would so like her to be in the final.

I'm glad that wasn't just me! I felt really sorry for both Lauren and Charotte during that whole exchange- why should Charlotte have to be on the defensive against something she didn't even say? She again rose in my estimation tonight though, simply for trying to defend both Lauren and Steph against the rising tide of Danielle-gushing.

I normally don't really see the favouritism to the same extent as most people on this forum, but tonight I really wanted ALW to just stop talking. I like Danielle but I also think Steph and Lauren are fantastic, and don't really appreciate it when this show basically says trained actresses are rubbish, it's only the "raw" ones that are any good. Even Danielle was beginning to look uncomfortable through parts of that, and Lauren was looking more and more defeated to me.

Don't worry - Danielle will be in the final even if she's in the bottom 2 tonight with Lauren.

I know. I remember last week when Andrew said it he said that he was agreeing with Charlotte, obviously he was misremembering what she said. She looked a bit annoyed at the time. Now John is misremembering because of Andrew's misremembering!!

I was a fan of Danielle's in the first couple of weeks, but have resented his manipulation and fawning over her. Same with SH. I now don't want her to win because of it.

Great thread, though every time I see the title "Shut up Andrew - recline with me" - well. I can't help but imagine his face at that offer....

Andrew wanted Jessie to win I'd Do Anything and fawned all over her but she wasn't who the people wanted and we got our way - and were proved right I think. I don't think it matters who he wants - the public will vote for who THEY want. And it seems clear to me that after tonight it turned into a two horse race between Danielle and Sophie. Lauren and Steph will be in the bottom two - not sure who ALW will vote out but it doesn't matter because in the public's eyes it's all down to Danielle Versus Sophie now - and a lot will depend on how they both perform in the final. I hope Danielle gets a better song for the final that she did tonight though!

God he was so rude how he went on and on about Lauren and Danielle's duet, then completely ignored Steph and Sophie and simply saying "good luck to you".... he was basically saying I have already decided I don't want you to have the part and there is no way I will even consider your performances. SO RUDE!

I really hope Steph and Sophie get through, they did well tonight and don't deserve the treatment they got tonight.

His comments about not leading anymore did make me laught tonight, but I also felt ALW was being quite sweet tonight, particularly in his efforts to say something nice about Sophie all the time, esp when she was totally ignored by the panel ....

It must be hard for Andrew and the judges. They have to be fair and appear unbiased, but then they have to be honest about their opinion and Andrew clearly favors Danielle and there's nothing wrong with that, though I understand why fans of the others may be a bit put out by it. The lord, like everyone at home, will have his favourites. It is not Danielle's fault though. Vote for who you want to vote. I don't want this to be like other reality shows in which sympathy votes and voting to annoy judges happens!!!!

It's the same in shows like American Idol, if they honestly feel someone is miles better they should say so, but not at the expense of others and trying to make people vote for them

Winning doesn't mean you are the most popular anyway. It depends who votes and why they vote and how many times they vote. Last year it could have Jessie or Jodie, this year the top 7 were all extremely popular and had a lot of people wanting them to be Dorothy.

Even if Sophie does win, he'll have top jobs waiting for the other pair!!!

I don't think he is doing it at the expense of others that much, though it did bug me a little tonight. Not like John and Denise last year being biased towards Sam and picking at the others for ridiculous reasons. That did annoy me
