Roxie has to stay with Velma in the duets and has to match her in the last dancing routine and do the cartwheel......Roxie is meant to have been married to Amos for 8 years and she's become disillusioned with life, Some people (Ruthie Henshall) claim you have to be late 30s upwards to play the disillusionment. I think the younger ones work because they have to be even more disillusioned earlier or disturbed which is good - but even then Aoife was 28 and 30 when she played her, Ruthie Henshall was 43 this year and the current Roxie, Emma Barton, started at about 32 .”

Aoife's in her 30's, , I thought she was barely in her 20's. Now that I think about it Suzanne Shaw must've been at least kicking 30, so would Jill Halfpenny. I actually think Lauren could play that age, she can look so different with the right hair/make-up.

I think she could play Sally Bowles, although she might face competition from Jessica.

Celebrity Roxies are rare. Suzanne Shaw had the dancing training and past musical roles as well as the singing background. Since her in 2008 they have had Aoife, Michelle Williams, several past Roxie's, Ruthie and Bonnie and now have the tour Roxie, Emma. Aoife has had the second longest total run to Ruthie Henshall. Celebrity Velmas are rarer still.

The problem isn't that the role is not there but that its not a role they let many people do and Aoife and Suzanne at 28 and 27 have been among the youngest. The OTR girl's problem is they will need the career between now and when they are old enough to get the role.

Suzanne is now 28, Aoife is 31, Jill is 34 (or so say wiki)

You can do a lot with makeup - the Les Mis Valjean understudies are half the age of the lead and you woudn't know who was older by the end under wigs. .Not sure its as easy for the females though some of the "aged hag"s look 20.

Wiki is right about Jill - she's the same age as me. I'm still in shock Aoife is 31.

There's an awful lot of roles though for 26-35 year olds which she says is her playing range and I reckon she could go younger.

Rachel Tucker is 28.

One of the spookier things is that Rachel and Aoife were both born on 29 May according to wiki.............

I think she could play someone in their early 20's, but the kind of roles she would play that probably won't be an issue.

There's also a little coincidence that of the 10 girls in the top 5 Sam comes the Isle of Man which is oh so near geographically and genealogically , Aoife, Niamh, Rachel and Jessie all come from Ireland or Northern Ireland, Connie was born there and Siobhan has an Irish father.......

Rachel - Wicked, We Will Rock You

I am sure i have missed out other things they have done (and i may be totally wrong with my thoughts.. but 4th seems like a charm placing)”

Disagree really - it's not 4th place, it's just individuals being suited to other roles. As others have said, Daniel wasn't 4th, he was 6th - which gives hope for Jenny! But yes, anyone from the finals can get a role!

I saw Seamus from Joseph as Che in Evita and he was fabulous! Disliked him on the Joseph programme but he was such a good Che.

That's a bit short-sighed! For instance, Lewis was understudy/alternate Joseph for Lee for a while - hard for him to be doing a lot of other stuff when he got the arguably second place job (Keith was doing albums etc.)
He did his own touring show thing - Chicago & Beyond, and then has been in Wicked since then. And he's only 20... he's got plenty of time to get other roles.
If you google some of the other third/second place people, you'd see they've not been doing nothing!

Is it not more just a case that lots of people have been successful, and it is a good platform to musical careers? We don't have to rank them in order of their success, that seems a little unfair. (Although if it makes you feel better about who is 4th, go ahead...)

Suzanne Shaw apparently went for the audition at 22 and they told her she was too young and to come back when she was 26/27, which was when she got the part. She had a lot of experience on the West End by then for 27 as well, she got offered the part before doi finished.

Problem is there are too few examples and it may be coincidence and it needs a lot of simplification. But, with the girls first place arguably went to someone who looked most like the popular view of that role. , Second place arguably went to the best singer, third place went to the young inexperienced one who is now on the way up after getting experience and 4th went to the older contestant who was a triple threat with talents that the show concealed a bit and who was early leading lady potential. This series is different, but that would argue for Danielle, Lauren and Sophie being the order and Steph being well placed........
