Does BGT really need half an hour for the result? It's not like TXF where there's a sing off.

I'm sure they could show the results on a 10 minute delay, as it would still be pretty much live and wouldn't be pre-recording them like Over The Rainbow does or Strictly used to.

However, American Idol manages to drag the results shows out to 60 minutes, so I'm sure they'll get to 30 no problem. BGT will probably overrun at 9pm, Corrie will overrun at 9.30pm and they won't even need to fill 30 anyway. |

I'm going to assume 8:30pm for Monday then, with Coronation Street... somewhere?
It will be interesting to see if BBC move EastEnders to counter attack it. Mind you, from the initial spoilers I've seen, that week of EE seems horrid. |

ABC might pick up Old Christine for mid-season. Gives them another option for the Wednesday 8.30pm slot.
Not sure where they would put Ghost Whisperer, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them pick up that too. CBS has left them with very little time to get it arranged though. |

My CW prediction/what I think they should do
Friday 8pm - Supernatural 9pm - Smallville I do worry some of the shows that were previously on The WB & UPN are being dragged out a bit too long by the CW. Smallville - Season 10 Supernatural - Season 6 (ok its not reached that point YET) One Tree Hill - Season 8 (do we really believe it would still be on air if it was not for The CW?) America's Next Top Model - Renewed to "cycle" 16 ok so Supernatural is only now coming to the end of its life, but still I dont know where the CW would be without the other 3 shows, all of which have gone on longer than they should, Smallville being a prime example. Also are the people watching these shows the ones watching 90210 or Vampire Dairies, seems like the two audiences are a generation apart. |

Schedules are confirmed tomorrow. No idea what's on BBC One.

Hang on...
Does this mean that High Street Dreams is going to be yanked from the schedules? (or moved day/slot) |

Some big news in regards to American Television and ITV1 today - I'm interested in reading the American news, even if I don't really know enough to contribute.
![]() As for Britain's Got Talent's scheduling - intriguing to say the least. I wonder whether ITV1 are thinking that the show's down on last year anyway so they may as well use it to try and boost Coronation Street's major week. Maybe they spent a lot on it, so need a return? In regards to EastEnders, dubsj says that the 8pm start is only Tuesday-Friday which means the only day it'll clash with EastEnders is presumably Friday, with the Monday programme airing from 8.30pm. The 8.30pm Monday episode will move to Tuesday at 9pm, Thursday's 8.30pm episode will move to 9pm and same with Friday's. Don't know where they'll find the Wednesday 9pm episode from - could be an extra episode, could be one of the 7.30pm shows moved. As for yesterday - not great for any channel bar ITV who had a good night. Nice to see Emmerdale performing well; I thought their summer dip had started. |

Won't a lot of the Coronation St audience be getting ready for bed at 9pm?

Corrie played at 10pm in 2005 when Celeb Love Island played... some nights there were three episodes in total - 7.30pm; 8.30pm and 10pm!

If it is not BGT results at 2130, then it will be a film premiere.

Just noticed that the BBC's deal for the Diamond League Athletics is for 5 years although all the (presumably) non uk events are behind the red button or on BBC3. It amazes me that Athletics has fallen as far as to be a filler for a minority channel after its eighties heights. Although it would seem at least that the BBC has all the top class events (obviously Olympics included) right through to 2015.

Corrie at 9pm for 5 days in a row is an unsettling prospect to be honest. I'm sure it will rate well enough there but it just doesn't sit right with me personally.
The soaps should be done and dusted before 9pm in an ideal world. If ITV wanted to setup a sandwich for BGT final week, why not try something innovative and put a new UK sitcom there or something? It's just so typical of ITV to stick to the safest option all the while. Lazy, unimaginative and wasteful. |

They did it in 2004 - twice IIRC. I think they ended up playing eight episodes in one week alongside I'm A Celebrity.

The CW needs to have a better year next year, especially with Gossip Girl, 90210 (although the +7 ratings are very very good), One Tree Hill and it's new programmes. Tbh, I think that Supernatural, Smallville and One Tree Hill will end next season, so their ratings won't make much of a difference. The problem for ANTM is that it has no DVD value, unlike all scripted series. It does do very well in the CWs target demo of women 18-39 though. |

I guess I will wait for my Digiguide to update, but it will be interesting to see what this throws up.
sorry if I OD on the upfronts discussion, its just one of my favourite times of year when it comes to US shows, will start talking about UK ratings again soon, or at the very least bash ITV some more

BGT at 7.30-9pm on the Monday? That's an own goal by ITV...clashing with Eastenders and moving Corrie's 2 biggest episodes of the week out of their slot for no reason.
So that's BGT and Corrie that will be down and goodness knows what will air after Corrie. |

It's just so typical of ITV to stick to the safest option all the while. Lazy, unimaginative and wasteful. I'm not sure Corrie will make a big enough gain to balance off the loss in viewers BGT will face by starting in those early slots. In theory, BGT's live show figures should be about 7% down from last year's equivalent figures (if the decline is the same as the audition shows) but I bet it'll be more if the provisional schedules are confirmed. Also as C14E noted earlier, Corrie needs to gain 2 or 3 times the audience BGT loses to make it really worth doing for ITV - and that won't happen. Basically I just think it's a pointless thing to do. No doubt ITV will completely dominate that week, but I don't think the scheduling helps them out at all. |
