I think it might do okay against the world cup actually - there'll be a sizeable anti-football audience out there and BB is on at just the right time.

Well that's mine, and the majority's opinion. The house is one of the best ever and its clear to me that more effort has been put in.

By the way, Big Brother 11 is only on until August 24th, at which point, Big Brother All Stars will start until September 10th.

It's not Millionaire that is denting Holby City, it's Gok's Fashion Fix on Channel 4. A similar drop in Holby City ratings occured last time a series of the channel 4 show was aired.

Only 39 complaints re: Corrie. Small fry compared to what it would have got had those episodes aired last week.

TUESDAY OVERNIGHTS

FOX will be delighted with the ratings for the season finale of Glee last night. 10.92m viewers tuned in and the finale scored a 4.6 rating among adults 18-49. That's an improvement of 18% from last week and in line with recent episoes which had an American idol lead-in. It's also the highest finale rating (A18-49) of any new show this season and 24% higher than the midseason finale last December.

Although it beat Glee last week for its season premiere, a 3% increase for America's Got Talent wasn't enough to keep it ahead this week. However, its 3.7 adults 18-49 rating does tie its series high in the demo and with 13.01m viewers, it was the most watched show of the night.

Hells Kitchen had a 3.2 rating and 6.94m viewers. The NBA Finals topped the night with a 4.9 rating in primetime and 11.53m viewers. A Jimmy Kimmel special at 8pm had 8.09m viewers and a 2.9 rating while NBC's reality show Losing It With Jillian dipped 19% from last weeks premiere to a 2.1 rating and 5.90m.

Interesting posts about the Queen Vic siege. I remember watching the episodes in the weeks after that siege and thinking how pedestrian the storytelling seemed to be. I got the impression the storylines were being dragged out a hell of a lot. That would tie-in with emergency re-writes.

Good for EastEnders, not just winning the clash, but also getting a higher overnight than the whole of Emmerdale.

Big Brother has actually done very well in previous World Cup years - BB3 in 2002 is the highest rated ever and BB7 in 2006 is the highest rated series since 2004.

Titles are fantastic and BBLB felt worked much better tonight by going back to basics and concentrating on the behind the scenes stuff.


Back to ratings and ITV really do need Emmerdale back regularly for an hour on Tuesdays - it's the only way the 8pm slot has any chance. I'd then put Corrie on for an hour at 8pm on Thursdays and drop the Friday 8.30pm episode.

Most reality shows do fare a lot better with women( often the younger ones) than men. BB is aimed very much at the younger female demographic. However, not many male football fans are likely to switch over for BB.

Obviously not, but I'm sure there's a lot of females out there that will appreciate Big Brother during the football saturated schedules of the next four weeks.

ITV have dropped Lion Country for Cumbria - Life After Death. Also on the EPG Coronation Street is being listed as two seperate episodes, so I think we'll get two seperate ratings come tomorrow.

Relatively speaking, a good night for ITV, in winning the 9pm slot. Emmerdale dented EastEnders and gave Millionnaire a better lead in. BBC1 had a strong night as ever.

It dented it yes but it couldn't beat it last night. I was surprised given how these head-to-head clashes normally go when Emmerdale has the head start.

BB5 was during an Euro Championship too, actually seems to be a good focus for the anti-football people.

Bizarrely, that isn't necessarily true.

Also BB was more popular then. I still reckon it will start OK, then drop back. The hardcore will stay loyal to the end, though.

It all depends how good it is. BB10 got of to a shit start so lost viewers by the bucket load - no doubt about it, whatever spin the three people who actually watched the series try to put on it. CBB7 got off to a good start, hence viewers stuck with it.

Cutting it back to 11 weeks should help - I think there are only 12-14 HMs going in tonight which should mean it's easier to follow in it's early stages than the last couple of series (then again, based on the last couple of series I wouldn't be surprised if they sent all 80 in tonight!). I'd predict around 5m tonight, tailing off to 3m over the next couple of nights then hovering around the 2.5-3m mark next week before settling either above or below that.

Hey, it's a generalisation, and so there's always exceptions, I used to love BB, and love football, so I know it's not always the case.

Based on those paltry HD figures it's unbelievable that ITV are going to the trouble and great expense of rolling out four regional versions of ITV1 HD on Sky HD this week.

They must know something that BARB doesn't!!

I notice the eviction is starting literally as soon as the England game ends on Friday night - at 9.35pm. Surprisingly good scheduling by Channel 4.

If only they had been so alert for... the past 10 years.

Sometimes you would think they were in their own bubble and didn't even know what was on the other channels.

Good chunk of Big Brother there without ads. First ad break didn't start until 2122.

I think it could get 7m+ tonight there is a vibe coming from the launch and facebook is going mad with statustus like big brother is back

I'm a fan of both too But during BB5 which averaged about 5m, I think a highlights show went up against an England match and was pushed right down to 1.8m

It probably wouldn't even register with BARB if the same happened this year

Feedback very positive. A lot of stuff on Twitter (Twitter have banned the #BB11 tag apparently) and Facebook etc. DS very positive for once. I think this year will hold on to its launch audience, and possibly the highlights show could do quite well this year. Looks like a very promising series!
