There's another thing to consider. I'd say that both those shows would possibly attract a younger demographic than "Pulse", so more of their potential audience might have watched them online in the preceding week.

World in Action was very good news for BBC1's Monday sitcoms from 1985 onwards.

This Week (another ITV documentary) was good for BBC1's Thursday night sitcoms.

Katy Perry is a great signing as she really divided opinion when she did it on American Idol and made a real impact. Natalie Imbruglia is an obvious choice as she's going to be a full time judge on X Factor Australia, and I'm sure she'll make an impact too.

The thing about signing big naes is that behind their stage personas they are actually very dull and often shy. That's why Lady Gaga would be awful as she can barely string a sentence together in interviews. When they had one of the Jonas Brothers on Idol I don't think he said anything. They need to make an impact, and even though Geri Halliwell may not be the biggest name, she's certainly made an impact!

Just seen on DS front page Katy Perry has been confirmed for Birmingham auditions-good signing imo, maybe they'll be able to get her to perform on one of the live shows later on aswell.

Natalie Imbruglia and Pixie Lott don't really stand out and aren't really a big deal tbh-perhaps Simon is saving grabbing the bigger acts for the live shows? That said it would have been good for him to acquire big names for the auditions aswell.

I can't remember exactly, but wasn't Fifth Gear axed by FIVE because it wasn't performing in its Monday slot. Then IIRC FIVE signed a deal with another broadcaster (Dave?) to share production costs and air half hour episodes instead. But surely if the show is pulling in half the audience it used to, it balances out production costs costing half what they used to?

Worrying that BB has posted its steepest drop among women 16-34, who tend to be its biggest supporters. I know it is natural for it to fall after the first night, but the HEAT magazine reading age group are its most favoured audience. Notice also today the redtops didn't have BB on the cover. I reckon it will fall back to its hardcore 2 million viewers before long.
Also it might have been better if C4 shortened the run to 8 weeks.

It doesn't, the figures are audience retention, not how much it has dropped. It has retained nearly 70% of women compared to 53% of men. I don't think it will go back as far down as last year, I think the majority of this series will rate inbetween 2.5m and 3.5m. The run has also been shortened to 11 weeks, with ex housemates doing an all stars for the final 2 weeks.

BBC coverage of the World Cup already miles ahead of ITV in terms of the quality of coverage. Simple unobtrusive graphics that do the job well, excellent team, brilliant presentation and stunning views from the studio.

I suppose it's not too surprising but I thought ITV might try a little harder this time around. I guess they blew all their money on Chiles!

I was disappointed by the deal as for me Fifth Gear is a show that ought to have been put to bed a long time ago.

It's always been a poor relation of Top Gear, and Dave already has that, so quite why they wanted more Fifth Gear I don't know!

Looks as though EastEnders will go on Wednesday (1hr) and Thursday, (30th June and July 1st, both non-football days), thereby avoiding the uncertainty caused by the World Cup alternative schedules on Mon, Tue and Fri of that week.

Don't you just love the constant changing stories about the Christine Bleakley saga! It makes me laugh that the mirror quoted her as saying "I'm staying put" when they obviously didn't. Now we have an actual official statement ( well it's from Media Guardian, whcih is obviulsy much more reliable)
I can see her going to GMTV especially as she's now signed to the same managment as Adrian!

Not to be flippant. Adrian had good reasons for leaving - he was treated quite badly over the whole Chris Evans thing. The same can't be said for Christine, though, who seems to be very happy where she is and is destined for a bright future at the broadcaster if she stays put.

If she was staying at the BBC surely she just wouldn't release a statement. Although on the other hand, would she do the same thing if it was ITV? Intresting!
