Does anyone have a suggestion who should host this new ITV chat show airing at 10pm?

Plenty of debate today on two subjects covering two channels.

With the BBC I cannot understand why they cannot stick to a schedule for an evening. Live events cause problems, yes, but pick a channel and stick to it. Don't swing between BBC1 and BBC2 on a whim, it's pointless and annoys viewers If they want Murray on BBC1, then give up the whole evening's schedule to Wimbledon every night where they don't have football. They could go back to 'usual' schedule at 9pm with EastEnders/Holby City etc.which shouldn't really be affected. Otherwise, if they want to keep the main shows running on BBC1 through primetime when they can they keep the tennis on BBC2.

With ITV There is no way that they'll ditch News at Ten. It's too risky for them to put on a new show in the slot which'll no doubt rate less and cost more than the News. A lot of people switch off then, and ITV need to focus their programming budget on the 9pm slot. I disagree that Emmerdale'd hold up ok against EastEnders at 8pm as suggested - it's ok when the former has a lead in, but not in a head to head battle.

As for last night: a good rating for the football, and I think James Corden's show is still doing ok - at least it seems to have found it's level. EastEnders did well in the earlier slot, and benefited from sensible scheduling . Big Brother is stabilising, but not at a level which would make Channel 4 rethink the axe. With Endemol thinking about making a bid for Five that could be where the show goes next.

ITV have made the best decision showing the James Corden thing. There is so much padding in the BBC's extended programme.

In fact there is probably just as much analysis about the televised game on ITV as there is on the BBC. BBC1 only talk for 5 mins with Hansen etc before going off to BBC bus feature stories etc.

Yeah because that works most of the time EastEnders beats Emmerdale when head-head.
Tuesday last week Emmerdale was an hour but i didn't stop people turning over for EastEnders.

But am I wrong in saying Emmerdale can still stand up against it and not get smashed into the ground? No. And it did stop people from turning over, Emmerdale would always be down that day.

3 times this year Emmerdale got smashed to the ground and even Tuesday last week Emmerdale was low across the Hour with EastEnders having a bigger 30mins rating then the whole of Emmerdales 60mins.

I've notice of EastEnders comes out top it's far more head of Emmerdale then the other way around.

Most of the clashes EastEnders wins when head-head anyway meaning people are turning over for it at 7:30pm

Twitter's algorithm to stop #bb11 trending has failed, #bb11 is trending 8th in the UK, with Shabby trending 10th.

Mind you, Waterloo Road is trending 6th despite not being on!

The first matches for the knockout stage will be decided on Tuesday and the second round will be fully decided on Friday. The second round will commence on the Saturday. I'm not sure whether that helps with your question or not.

You're right, but after all the matches are confirmed for the knock out stage, BBC and ITV will have to wrangle between themselves for the picks.

The wrangling will start on Wednesday, when the channels discover if England qualify, and if so where. It's pretty complicated who has what pick depending on where England finish in the group:

So it'll all be on the Wednesday afternoon match, and I doubt they'll make any decsions until after then. I think news will start to leak Wednesday night about the second round scheduling.

Just as spring's arrival each year is confirmed by the first cuckoo, you know summer's arrived when you see your first post complaining about the BBC ensuring key Wimbledon clashes get the widest possible audience by moving to BBC1....

Assuming England do win the group, the BBC should have a ratings bonanza on Saturday 26th with the Dr Who finale at 6.05pm leading straight into the football from 7pm. Having just 30 mins of build up should do wonders for the average and easily trounce ITV1's figures for the USA and Algeria games starting at 6.15 and 6.30 respectively.

Not sure a Sunday afternoon clash, even against Germany, will deliver quite the same numbers if we finish second!

ITV have such a strong evening tomorrow - ideal for non footy fans - (aside from Tonight from Afghanistan at 7.30), Emmerdale x 2 and Coronation Street then Taggart - The World Cup game is France v Mexico and it is a crunch game for both teams - so can see ratings being about equal for BBC1/ITV from 7.00-10.00. Half an hour of waffle may pull down the football a little.

I didn't realise that if England go out in the group stage, BBC1 gets to show both semi finals. I suppose that's fair compensation for only having the one England game, and mid afternoon.

I really don't understand why if England get to the semi final though, ITV gets to show both semi-finals. Sure, nobody will watch the England match on ITV1 when they can watch on BBC1, but why don't they both show both SFs if England make it that far?

I don't understand the different scenarios 3, 4 and 5 - they suggest who gets what 2nd round picks will depend on whether England go out in the 2nd round, quarter finals or neither.

The post football waffle slot was a good one for BBC1 tonight - an Italia 90/England v West Germany retrospective. It may have held up better than previous nights.

That said, the BBC1 waffle slot has beaten ITV1 every time I believe.

The second round picks are the same for England finishing first and England finishing second.

England finish first: BBC-ITV-BBC-ITV-BBC-ITV-ITV-BBC
England finish second: BBC-ITV-BBC-BBC-ITV-ITV-BBC-ITV
England don't qualify: BBC-BBC-ITV-ITV-BBC-BBC-ITV-ITV

If England are out by the Quarter Final Stage, the Quarter Finals will be chosen: BBC-BBC-ITV-ITV

If England are in the Quarter Finals the choice will be: BBC-ITV-BBC-ITV

If England go out in the group, then the BBC will get both semi-finals.

If they qualify from the group, but don't reach the semi-finals then BBC will have first choice, and ITV will take the other.

If England reach the semi-finals then both BBC and ITV will air that, and ITV will have the second semi-final.

I'm not sure what other tantalising Second Round matches there could be after Brazil v Spain - Argentina v France maybe, and Holland v Italy. But that'd leave a lot of unappealing second round matches too.

It won on Friday and Monday [9.30-10.00]on average and its averaging a bit more than Corden/football run over is on ITV.

I struggle to recall when this was on ITV Daytime.

All joking aside, there is no question The Biggest Loser works well in primetime for NBC, and ITV are obviously hoping it will do the same for them.

Personally I wont be watching, and im not convinced, it will draw large numbers.
