Where do the BBC get their next light entertainment presenters from, ask some.
There's along-standing tradition in this country to use comedians for such roles:
Bob Monkhouse, Bruce Forsyth, Michael Barrymore, Tom O'Connor, Jimmy Tarbuck, Barry Cryer, Roy Walker, Shane Ritchie, Bernard Manning.....
The tradition continues today:
Dara O'Briain, Michael McIntyre, Rob Brydon (Would I Lie To You?), Alexander Armstrong (Pointless - that a BBC2 daytime quiz, not a personal comment).... Jason Manford has just been given The One Show, John Bishop has a new series coming soon.....
There's a big pot of talent out there for the BBC to dip into. It's just a question of finding good formats.
