If you take GMTV now and what GMTV will become, it is much cheaper now. GMTV is going to be loss making for quite a while, it won't be until the medium term when they start to make a profit.

ITV have made a massive investment in GMTV, they just need to hope and pray everything pays off.

Only BGT rates higher than Chris Evans, whose show has 9.5 million listeners. Add Moyles and Today, the third biggest radio show, and these have a combined audience of over 20 million.

Radio ratings are slightly different. They don't report an average figure, just a total reach.

The Today Show has been in the lead since the 90's and was the original morning show, I think. GMA is closing the gap a bit. Also, The Today Show is 7am-11am whereas the other 2 are just 7am-9am.

GMA also does a Summer Concert Series every year.

Today gets better ratings that most of the NBC primetime lineup! The Early Show does poorly in comparison to the other two. 7-11am seems a long time, what do they fill the time with?

According to Wiki, it pretty much becomes a whole new show with new hosts and a less news based format. I think they just like to drag the brand out a bit!

Katie Couric left The Today Show for CBS Evening News in a $15m a year deal. Diane Sawyer recently took over ABC World News having previously been on Good Morning America.

ABC is catching up to NBC for their news programs! Looks like having Diane Sawyer as the main ABC news anchor paid off! I didn't realize CBS was struggling at daytime/news shows though. At least they have their two leading daytime soaps (Young and the Restless/Bold and the Beautiful), despite their figures declining more than last year.

ABC is premiering two new summer dramas tonight. At 9pm, it is The Scoundrels (http://abc.go.com/shows/scoundrels?cid=abc_ss2_sco), which is a remake of a New Zealand drama, Outrageous Fortune. ITV1 also made a remake of the show called Honest, starring Amanda Redman from New Tricks in 2008.

At 10pm, it is The Gates (http://abc.go.com/watch/clip/the-gat...id=abc_ss1_gts). It is about a family moving to a community called The Gates. However, there is something mysterious about the neighbourhood. Also, there are werewolves and vampires involved.

FOX has Til Death and Son of Tuscon burn-off at 7pm and NBC is airing golf until 9pm. CBS has 60 minutes at 7pm. Otherwise, the rest are repeats.

I think her contract ends in September.

Although the BBC statement does seem as though she's not coming back.

History suggests that the summer drama launches won't fare well. The last one to work was The OC in August 2003 and NBC's Persons Unknown and FOX's The Good Guys have already flopped this summer.

I think True Blood at 9pm on HBO could beat the ABC drama in viewers and definitely will in the 18-49 demo (despite the fact that HBO is only in 32m US homes out of 115m).

They can easily put her on gardening leave.

Adrian's contract was until September too.

They want to relaunch the show after the World Cup and it sounds like Christine won't be a part of it.

Interesting that STV had to replace Lewis tonight, showing some Hilary Duff movie.

I guess they have no right to show it given that they refused to pay up for that episode in the first place.

I would think so too, which is such a shame. It seems like ABC already gave up on The Gates, as they already put the first 17 minutes on the website. That is almost half the episode length (excluding commercial breaks)!

Although i'm sure Adrian's didn't end in September as he was still on the one show for 2 weeks after it was anounced he was leaving. Surely if it had been untill September, he just would have not come back.

Julia Bradbury, perhaps? Or maybe Kaye Adams as she already does bits for the show. Less likely, perhaps Fern Britton? Or even more unlikely, I hear Kelly Brook isn't going to Australia after all?!

whoever the BBC get, sadly its going to have to be at least seen to be paying them not alot, and that may rule out, people with experince.

TBH I would not be keen on taking someone from Daytime TV for the role.

Brilliant night for BBC1... not surprised at how high the football was considering the teams' involved, but why was BBC News so high? There wasn't a main story last night.. was there?

OK night for ITV, but poor for Coronation Street... I think it's fans maybe a bit lost considering there are only 2 episodes this week.

As for Big Brother, I guess that's OK, albeit 0.4m down on last Sunday.

I would say BBC News is so high because of no ITV bulletin against it and the poor ITV competition-why ITV launched a new show at 10pm I don't know. Another 10pm flop and reason why the 10pm News on ITV shouldn't move.

Great for the football on BBC1, similar to last Sundays match. Though inbetween the football matches BBC1 seemed to fall down, apart from Countryfile. Think it could be time to move SOP to BBC2.

ITV seemed to perform well from 2.30-10pm all things considered. Poirot did better than I thought and the YBF and Lewis fillers did as expected. No surprise about Corrie being so low in an unadvertised slot against tough football competition.

Also interesting that these latest episodes of Corrie are planned, as last nights was set on Fathers Day. Therefore there won't be a backlog and it will be interesting to see if there are any episodes to catch up the missing Emmerdale and Corrie ones, or if some of their budget was taken to pay for the football and Corrie's expensive episodes?

Interesting to note with only one Corrie episode this week, this could be the first time ever that Emmerdale beats Corrie's weekly reach. I'm really surprised there isn't an hour of Corrie on Thursday actually.

How has ITV been coping with airing football, Corrie & Emmerdale, that is something that has espaced my attention, my focus has been on when Eastenders is on, but how far behind is ITV getting?

I wouldn't be surprised if someone from BBC News moves over. My money would be on Kate Silverton. As much as she might enjoy reading the news, it's taking her some time to move up the hierarchy, and even today she's still used mostly as a relief presenter. The One Show is realistically the biggest gig she's going to get on BBC One.

Thats a bit of a kick in the teeth if she doesn't even get a send off after 3 years on the show.

Well firstly I wouldn't envisage it being on virtually all year round - at the least it would break for the summer, but I think it would probably air 24-30 weeks at most in two or three blocks.

And secondly, I'm suggesting the show airs four nights a week, but would probably be filmed over three nights (each show recorded the night of transmission, with Thursdays recorded on the Wednesday). That would be no more work than JR is doing for the BBC with his radio show and Film 2010 - and we all know (and even JR knows), he's not worth £6m.

He'd be realistic enough to know he'd have to get out of bed three days a week for just £2m, and I'm sure would want to make a success of it so be more than willing to accept the challenge.


Fridays at 9pm wouldn't work - JR doesn't have the mass appeal that Paul O'Grady has at all and his type of chat show isn't what I'd consider prime-time material. Chat shows traditionally work better later in the evening.


I do agree with what someone said earlier about Jonathan Ross being probably the only person who could make a nightly chat show work for ITV.
