Tbh some channels are interested in CBB not BB though after the big success of CBB7 in January, just proves it can still pull in 4m+ especially evictions... so its not completely tired of though, but I guess that was because of the celebs like Vinnie Jones, Alex Reid, Ivana Trump and Stephanie Beacham (sp?) made it worth watching.

Clearly it was the exceptionally hot weather that dented the ratings of many of the channels last night-I mean look at James Corden's hsow a mere 300 000 above BB and following the highest rated show of the evening....

However how people can say oh BB performed terribly is beyond me-once again Channel 4s highest rating show of the day and yet The It Crowd doesn't get 2 million and oh it's done brilliantly

Yes BB once did a lot better, but those days are gone. Right now it's Channel 4s best rating show and perhaps, just perhaps, people should recognise that.

When +1 is added, i think that BB would overpass James Cordon tbh... but yeah he was a little bit on the low side, as loads of people were,

It was a hot day. And yes i understand anything else that gets 2m+ gets praised massivley. Either way, BB is still the most watched show.

Uruguay scored in the last few minutes, meaning no Extra Time.

Problem is they're paying something stupid like £70m for it. For that amount the ratings are awful.

IT crowd didn't do as well, but costs far less.

C4 would be wise to give all four series a complete rerun on Friday nights either from the autumn or early next year and anchor a new Friday night line up around it, with The IT Crowd and new comedy in the 9pm hour and things like Chris Moyles and Alan Carr in the 10pm hour, plus something to round off the night at 10.50pm, like Stand up for the Week or Peep Show / Inbetweeners reruns.

Murray looking unlikely to be on court before 6pm at the absolute earliest - possibly closer to 7pm, so I strongly suspect it could be on BBC1 at 7pm - though knowing the BBC they'll just put it on for the hour and go back for the Lottery at 8pm. However, now In it to Win It is recorded months in advance they could get away with dropping it and just putting a 10-minute Lotto draw bulletin on later.

Ah OK fair enough I didn't take that into account. Although surely it does still generate a fair bit of income with advertising revenues/voting?!

Just announced on BBC1 to switch to BBC2 for continued Tennis coverage. Nadal match is dragging on, God knows when Murray will be on?

Assuming Nadal will win this match, we'll be playing at least 2 more sets before Murray. Unlikely to see Murray until about 7 at the absolute earliest, more likely 7.30 after warm-ups etc. Could see another late night affair under the floodlights of Centre Court, and that would almost certainly be bumped to BBC1.

The BBC is obviously intending to keep the tennis on BBC2 until Dr Who finishes - presumably then junking BBC1's schedule until nightfall to allow the Murray match to get a primetime BBC1 slot. If Murray starts up before Dr Who finishes, then so be it.

Looks like it's turned out well for them tonight - I assume if the Murray match is unresolved tonight it will resume at lunchtime on Monday?

No - the figure will be for what all BBC 1 nations showed between 20:00 and 20:30

It hasn't turned out well though - a potential shock in the world number 2 going out against Dr Who will dent Who's ratings.

Murray will go under floodlights, so his game will finish tonight. Could beat the World Cup game as well.

They're playing on Centre Court, so will probably use the floodlights if necessary, although I'm not entirely sure the rules surrounding this (last year they could only be used if the roof had been closed at the start of a match). And there is a curfew on the Championships at 11pm I believe. After that, then it would resume on Monday most certainly.

Surely the cost is a big issue?

And the fact the IT Crowd is up on its usual performance? And BB is considerably down?

You can't always compare two shows that simply.

Also BB is definetely not CH4's best rated show anymore.



CBB7 was a stroke of genius that was compelling viewing for 3 weeks. The right celebrities were picked and it was exciting, and hilarious to watch. And like you say the ratings increase was probably due to the luck CH4 had as the celebs really worked well together, which isn't always a given.

My Freeview EPG didn't have the afternoon WC game today, and insists tomorrows BBC1 WC coverage runs 2pm-3.20pm, with the F1 simulcast on BBC1/BBC2 from 12.10pm to 2pm.

Hope people check properly if they're going to be out tomorrow when setting up their PVRs...

Given that weeknight Murray matches have reached 10-12m (boosted by people waiting for EE), this could be one almighty trouncing for ITV1 this weekend!

Completely agree, i found it hilarious. It proves that the public like fun much more than arguments. Note that BB11 was hitting 3m+ in the first few days when they were all aving fun and then dropped when the rows began. And CBB7 had much more fun then rows and the great choice of celebrities, thats what i think made it work very well.

We know that C4 can do it if they try, they were very lucky with CBB7.

Whatever happens tonight, ITV1's World Cup game (and James Corden's show) are going to get an absolute pasting by the Murray Match. This weekend could really be the biggest for the BBC in years.

Some of it has just become too predictable and the public have seen it all before-probably one of the reasons for soaps decline in recent years aswell.

I think it was a huge coup getting celebrities like Stephanie Beacham. There was about 6 really good housemates who were obviously expensive to get-CH4 probably spending more knowing it would be the last.

And my final point before turning this thread too BB related- the moment where Stephanie Beacham dropped the glass award which Ivana Trump thought she had won was the funniest TV moment certainly this year and in recent years aswell. The series deserved to do well.

It shouldn't be an issue though, BB2 had 10.30pm eviction shows and they rated well for in comparison to the series average.

CBB attracts a different audience to BB and many thought CBB7 was the last ever series.

Bear in mind 40 mins to shut the roof.

Wimbledon are going to have a gamble. If they can get Murray on court by 7pm they could hope he will win in straight sets just before it gets dark around 9pm.

Otherwise they may well shut the roof before he starts which means he may not start till 7.30pm or 7.45pm.

(Roof closure then would only waste about 25 mins as there would be say 15 mins between matches anyway - ie they start closing the roof as soon as the Nadal match ends).

They are not going to want to suspend play for 40 mins live on BBC1 around 8.45pm.

Having said all that Murray's match is likely to be a straight sets walkover so it may not be great Saturday evening "mass entertainment".

Problem is, they're competing with themselves at the same time as crushing ITV and everyone else.

Yeh, by the BBC I meant both 1 and 2. The tennis will knock Doctor Who, Formula 1 will knock the England game build-up and Top Gear and Argentina vs Mexico will dent each other. But, as a corporation this weekend will be huge.

Also, seeing ITV down so low will delight the BBC bosses and yourself I would imagine.

I don't think they're allowed to shut the roof until they need to (indeed, if it's not raining can't they just play under floodlights without closing it?). A 30-40 minute break wouldn't be an absolute disaster for BBC1 - they could play the lottery at least out in that time, plus I suspect squeeze in a big plug for tomorrow too.
