BBC Two comprehensively beats BBC One I see. Lewis quite a bit down, but still a very good rating. Over the Rainbow also did well, and I suspect that dented Lewis in the 8pm hour.

Any idea how the F1 got on? (1210 to 1530, BBC1)

Wow, that's superb considering one Brit went out on Lap 1 and the other finished in 5th.

The peak is also one of the highest shares I've seen for a daytime race.

Thanks dubsj. Another solid rating for Lewis, although the 1m decline is odd considering it held up so well last week. OTR must have dented it, as whilst it hasn't done as well as the other musical searches, it has put in some good performances in recent weeks. Modern Masters did terribly again, but Worried About The Boy did very well for BBC2. Do you have anything for The Seasons and Countryfile dubsj?

Indeed, this week we'll finally reach the end of the old producer's storylines and see the conclusion of the awful 'flashforward' plot which has dragged the show down over the last few months.

Things should get better from here on in, although it'll probably still get absymal ratings over the summer before the planned stunt in the Autumn, which will mark the relaunch of the show and hopefully get people watching again.

OK, I think we can blame a very poor Lewis lead-in for Lewis' 'poor' rating.

Thanks dubsj.

So as I expected, Countryfile put a large dent into The Seasons like it did with Survival when they clashed. The Seasons and Millionaire should be in each other's slots as the nature stuff isn't working on Sundays and Millionaire did well when it was shown there over Christmas.

Its only competition was a 3 day old repeat of the Christmas special of Countryfile. Which it barely beat.[4m v 4.4m]

I was really confused about Modern Masters being on BBC1 last night. It felt like a BBC 2 prog, maybe even BBC Four. The ratings seem to have backed that up.

And a new episode of James May's Top Toys on BBC2 which got 4.4m.

I've said the same. One of those baffling scheduling decisions that seem to crop up on the BBC every now and again.

But it also defeats this idea that there is some kind of "base" audience that will nearly always watch whatever BBC One serves up. When you consider the fact that BBC One has 3x the reach of Five, then 1.7m is the equivalent of under 600k watching Five in the 9pm hour, which as far as I know, hasn't happened in a very long time.

So it's an incredibly poor rating and the BBC must be very embarrassed by how it has performed.

In fact, it seems Five may have edged out BBC One in the 9pm hour:

Quote:
“Five’s movie premiere, the Russell Crowe/Christian Bale remake of classic western 3:10 to Yuma, performed above-average with 1.6m (8%) between 9pm and 11.30pm.”

Source: Broadcast Now.

Good rating.

..............but probably not surprised. Modern Art is arguably one of the least viewer friendly subjects there is. The last of the Dimbleby Seven Ages series got a very poor rating, to me because the subject matter was arty, modern, and quite frankly odd. And yet the previous episodes regarding Victorian paintings and before as a guide to history were really watchable.
Good rating for the F1, whose place on terrestrial television will give it far greater newsworthyness than the Twenty20 Cricket which will have slipped by many people even though England have won their first ever world one day title. Having said all that I still dont think its Cricket.

Has Pineapple Dance Studios been at that sort of level all series - seems to have got much more exposure than it's ratings deserved - bloody Harry Hill!

Good night for BBC Two with Worried About the Boy doing really well, I can see a potential follow up being commisioned. Not sure how Royal Wedding or Money will do although Money has awkward scheduling of Sunday and the next episode on Wednesday.

Lewis was down although I suspect was affected by Worried about the Boy but a fifth series is all but guranteed, 3.10 to Yuma did well for Five and tops off a good week for them with all their 9pm programmings breaking 1m.

Art is still a niche topic compared to other documentary types, it can be done well as evident with shows like The Art of Spain/Germany/Russia but making accessible for a BBC One audience is difficult, Rolf on Art was probably the last successful arts programme IMO.

No sign of X Factor though...

Glee getting the Superbowl lead in doesn't surprise me, it seemed a shoo in after the success it has had.

I do wonder why FOX posts a midseason schedule, they never stick with it!

Lucky Glee. Interesting how The Cleveland show gets pushed one hour later in the midseason. It will be interesting how DWTS results show and Glee battle will turn out during fall season (that is, if ABC decides to place DWTS results show at 8pm again. Doubt it, though).

Chances are Raising Hope might be axed by then but interesting the Idol results show is slashed to half an hour, though wouldn't surprise me if it is put back to an hour and Glee airs 9.30-10.30 as it did at some points this year.

I do kind of wish the UK channels would lay their cards on the table in a similar way - not so much because it means we know what's coming, but more because it forces them to plan long term. At the moment they just seem to schedule from week to week and on ITV1 especially there are too many shows running just 3-4 weeks - it's basically all filler.

Of course though it won't happen and the BBC especially will continue scheduling in such a way that despite Christmas being around the corner, they'll begin a six part series at the beginning of December and then throw it around the schedules over Christmas!

Something will get cancelled and Idol will be back to an hour.

Glee getting post-Superbowl is excellent news - I'm sure they'll do something fittingly special.
