Not a Mirror exclusive. In fact, its rather old news: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pre...florizel.shtml

How odd, on the one hand it's a great tribute to Coronation Street, that it's such an institution that it warrants a drama about it, but it seems a weird for it to be made by a rival company? I'm not sure what to make of that tbh?

Well, ITV Studios are making it...

Clear that ITV don't have a clue what to do

“TF1, France’s leading commercial broadcaster, is on the road to recovery after a “catastrophic” year in 2009 when its advertising revenues plunged 27 per cent and its share price plummeted as low as €5.

Advertising revenues from the TF1 channel rose by 13 per cent in the first quarter of 2010, albeit flattered by the comparison with a disastrous 2009.

Like many free-to-air broadcasters, TF1, which is controlled by Bouygues, the construction and telecoms group, has struggled to cope with the arrival of digital terrestrial television, the internet and the growth of pay-TV.”

“A technical error during a Nike advertisement could end up costing ITV £1.5 million, it has been claimed.

The three-minute promotion, featuring Wayne Rooney, Didier Drogba and Cristiano Ronaldo, was screened in 32 countries following the conclusion of the Champions League final.

But the mix-up meant the advertisement was cut short - without Nike being mentioned. Instead of the final 10 seconds of the film, viewers were treated to a static ITV1 logo.”

“Channel 4 is hunting for a new home for Iron Chef UK after pulling it out of its 5pm slot mid-run due to poor ratings.

After launching last month with 1.1m (8.9%), audiences for the culinary gameshow quickly fell below a million and over three weeks, the show averaged 782,200 (6.2%).

Last week’s episodes of Iron Chef UK were pulled and replaced with repeats of Come Dine With Me, which attracted twice as many viewers. It averaged 1.4m (13.5%) over the week. Repeats of the celebrity spin-off are now scheduled for this week.”

“Channel 4 dramas Mo and Red Riding were the biggest winners at last night's Bafta Craft Awards 2010.

Mo, the Mo Mowlem biopic made by ITV Studios, picked up three awards – director: fiction (Philip Martin); editing: fiction (Kristina Hetherington); and make up and hair design (Chrissie Baker). Red Riding won two.

Scores on the doors in terms of the broadcasters: Channel 4 – 8, BBC1 – 4, BBC2 - 3, ITV1 – 2, BBC4 –1.”

ITV has recommissioned Above Suspicion - no surprise there. The last series officially averaged 7.8m, which was even better than the first one.

Not really surprising, but good news all the same. Is it for another three parter or a full series?

Probably for the best as the quality would probably plunge if they gave it a full series, and it also means they can strip it again, so they've got a returnable 'event drama'.

BGT got 9.44m (42.8%), which is about a million more than it would have got on Saturday. Buble got a strong 5.83m (26.8%).

BGT was dull as dishwater.

I was out so ended up skewing over it with breakfast this morning, don't think I watched more than 2 minutes of it

Pretty good rating for BGT - about the same as how the last Saturday episode did. Maybe ITV should look into stripping BGT over 4 weekends next year, to give Sundays a boost as well. Good rating for An Audience with Buble.

That must be one of Countryfile's lowest rating in months, and Come Dine with Me was down from its usual 2m+. The new BBC2 drama flopped big-time; I'd have thought going up against Buble would be better for it than facing Lewis. Also it's not as if BBC1 or Channel 4 were airing big ratings-pullers at that time.

BGT held up well considering.

I agree though it wasn't hugely entertaining.

Yeah, I think so too...make it more of an event...by giving it a Saturday/Sunday 8pm split...maybe new series on Sunday's, and a load of entertainment specials on Saturday's afterwards

No surprise that Florizel St is heading for BBC4 - where in the ITV portfolio of channels would a highbrow drama such as this be placed? Clearly not on ITV1, where even ageing old Corrie itself now has to be propped up by Cowell, and certainly not ITV2.

It has to go on either BBC4 or More4 really.

Plus it will probably get higher ratings on BBC4 than it would sticking out like a sore thumb amidst the recycled old material on ITV3 or ITV4.

BGT = Britain's Got Tanking?

George?

Poor for Money - thought it would outrate Modern Masters, at least...

BGT held up very well last night then considering the different slot and the weather - indeed based on Saturdays figures it probably got more last night than it would have on Saturday. I thought it might drop below 9m.

The only real surprise there is that Modern Masters actually picked up viewers albeit still making it a very lowly rated prime time BBC one show. If by the slimmest chance it does get recommisioned it needs to move to a teatime BBC2 slot on a Sunday.

Does anyone know the ratings for the Radio 1's Big Weekend highlights from BBC Three on Saturday and Sunday? Thanks
