Although maybe a few minor signs are starting to emerge of how BGT will eventually lose impetus, 9.44 million is still a huge audience on a weekend where some shows were recording head scratchingly low figures.
BBC1 looked vacant without OTR and AR and probably for the first time Countryfile struggled though anything would against BGT at the moment. Cant see the appeal of Michael Buble but that type of show seeems to link well with reality formats-but against Modern Masters ITV would have had to work hard to actually lose a decent audience.
Modern Masters is not main channel prime time telly and never will be-just the BBC combining schedule filling with trying to earn brownie points.

sorry no spoilers again this week, but the data is live on BARB website

Interesting how ITV2 haven't replaced the usual Sunday repeats of BGT. I thought they'd air them tonight instead (they only have films), but looks like it's just skipped over.

I assume ITV1 would air the usual Sunday afternoon repeat on Saturday?

Neighbours was bad before this producer
I used to watch as a kid and right up untill 2007 but then it became shit and even now isee the odd episode and it's full of silly storylines, too many young kids that can't act.

It seems that BBC have more idea of what to do with ITV's biggest show then ITV do

It makes me laugh when ITV do this sort of thing because take away Corrie,BGT,Xfactor and ITV are pretty much left with nothing.

Next week just shows how they rely on Corrie and BGT.

Florizel Street is very much a Granada production. Several members of the Corrie team are involved in making it.

(Anyone who is wondering about the title - it is what the programme was called at first until a cleaning lady pointed ou that the title sounded like a detergent)

You really cannot see it working on ITV with its viewers having such low expectations about serious drama. So it will work much better on the beeb and promote the 50th anniversary cross channel.

This newspaper 'exclusive' was discussed in a thread on the broadcasting forum here several weeks ago! Maybe DS should start charging the papers for their exclusives.

Sadly, I can just imagine what Coronation Street specials ITV will consider appropriate....

I'm a Corrie star get me out of Moss Side

All Street Family Fortunes.

Jordan versus Peter as Rita and Len Fairclough in a nostalgic tribute.

No doubt something as 'imaginative'.

people don't stay out in the garden on sunny Sunday nights - school/work the next morning.
and given BGT's audience is family-based I'd say summer Sundays are a better slot...

As we heard a while ago, Got To Dance has been sold to CBS in the States.

Today, they announced that it will air midseason and that former American Idol judge Paula Abdul will serve as *takes a deep breath* lead judge, executive producer, creative partner, mentor and coach.

It comes as rumours circulate that she'll make a one-off return to American Idol for this years finale. She had also been linked to X Factor USA, America's Got Talent, So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing With The Stars and Star Search.

The series is produced by Reveille, part of Elisabeth Murdoch's Shine Group. Another of their UK formats, One Born Every Minute, is heading to the female skewing LIFETIME cable channel.

According to MG, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford will front Monday to Thursday's This Morning over the summer, starting w/c 19th July. Friday's edition will have guest hosts TBC.

It took a summer break last year, didn't it?

They learned their lesson with the closing credits to Keeping Up Appearances, when "Produced & Directed by Harold Snoad" appeared as a printed place card on the supper table placed by Hyacinth, but with "BBC MCMXCI", etc, superimposed on later.”

I wonder if they genuinely didn't realise it would be a problem for Don't Wait Up, or if they just didn't expect it to survive beyond 1983?

If it's true they're both going to be absent, it seems strange to me. It's a commennt from someone who went to the recordings. All the same, imagine three episodes of Only Fools and Horses with no Del or Rodney.

Pretty good rating for BGT there - shows its audience follows it around the schedules. Good also for Buble. Poor for Money.

How true this is I don't know, but it could result in interesting ratings - would a family audience really want to watch something quite that bleak waiting for Britain's Got Talent to return?”

I wonder how much, if any, long term benefit there will be to Coronation St. It's going to attract some new viewers who are just waiting for the talent show results, but will they bother returning to Coronation St in the following weeks, especially with the World Cup bouncing it all over the schedules?

Even next week itself, I think some of the new CS viewers will be partly balanced out by regular fans who won't bother waiting around until 9pm.

It did last year for the first time in a couple of years. Ruth and Eammonn did the summer before, and at some point Denise Van Outen and Richard Bacon hosted over the summer (3 or 4 years ago).

Wonder how Million Dollar drop will do tonight? Is there some reason they have it on so late? Seems a strange scheduling decision for a big new show

Agree. Its a stupid slot, you would think it would be on the 9pm hour, but its been advertised to death, last night I switched channels from C4, C4+1, E4, More4 and Film4 where they all did the advert in the space of 10 minutes in all those channels. Not to mention that the BB funeral trailer will air between the show AND that new abortion ad too during the show... they are trying to really sell the show.

But the weather will knock it alot, and a lot of other programmes, lets remember that the highest max of today reached 30 degrees C in heathrow, that is very very rare in May.

Interesting to see Britain's Got Talent reach for each week (ITV1 + ITV1 HD + ITV2 repeat + ITV2 +1 repeat) :

17/04 - 13.16m (2.52m for BGMT)
24/04 - 13.38m (3.05m)
01/05 - 13.17m (3.08m)
08/05 - 13.58m (3.29m)
15/05 - 12.25m (3.11m)

So, apart from the 15th May episode, all other audition shows have had a reach of over 13 million.

Highest according to Met Office was 28.1°C at 3pm.

Still hot for late May as you say but 30°C would be quite extraordinary this early in the season.

I don't think we'll see too much of an impact tonight. It's cooling down gradually from the north and it's been cloudier today compared to the past two days.

The 10pm slot could actually aid Million Pound Drop in as much as it's awful trying to get to sleep in this weather.

England V Mexico is on ITV1 tonight, kick off 8pm. I guess channel 4 didn't want to launch it against that.
