Someone featured in from episode 3 onwards is in court and they have to wait until after the trial.
Why am I not surprised?

not really as thought it gets "good" ratings.
But the Bill returns ( According to announcer) on Tuesday 22nd June - so not off for the whole World Cup!

One of the benefits of MPD being live is that they've obviously taken some of the noted issues on board as it's a lot pacier tonight.

Call me cynical but I think the reason ITV1 have scheduled BGT in a 2.5hr block in this way is because they have come to the conclusion that it won't be able to top last year. So at least this way they can say the reason it is down is because of the longer runtime.
Doesn't seem to be the main watercooler topic it was at work last year, although this isn't the final week yet. However, it should still do well and anything over 10 million is excellent these days.

On the MPD the answers were, the England v Mexico friendly, the Chelsea Flower Show, and the Million Pound Drop.
I thought the question was going to be 'Which achieved the lowest ratings yesterday?' with an addition of 'It's a question we can ONLY ask today because we are totally live!'

CBS and ABC can be pretty happy with last night, I think. The Big Bang Theory was a bit disappointing, actually down from last week, but it's improvement over the year has been great and overall declines weren't bad.

Perhaps Lost stole its thunder, but 24 came to an end after 8 years without any real effect on its ratings which were level with the season so far and down from last year. Chuck was the only major faller from last year.

They didn't really do anything special with the 24 finale though; it was in a similar style to the previous 7 finales with little marking it out as special for being the last one.

Tbh, I don't even think they care about those kind of numbers (though I think it's what drives Cowell). We saw that when they made the XF final 2 hours last year and even if BGT was going to be down a bit, it might still have topped the yearly ratings. They're just taking the extra revenue and the excessive extension of the finale is simply in keeping with dragging it out over the week.

I'm torn on this one. On one hand I like the show and want it to do well, on the other I don't like the new plans and I don't think they'll work out.

RTL, the parent company of channel Five, is preparing to formally solicit bids for a sale of the struggling UK free-to-air broadcaster.

Luxembourg-based RTL, which is majority-owned by the German media conglomerate Bertelsmann, is understood to have appointed a team to construct what one senior industry source described as a "tender process" for the sale of Five.

Potential bidders include other UK broadcasters such as ITV, Channel 4 and BSkyB. However industry insiders have also suggested that a US studio such as Warner Bros or a production company such as Endemol might be interested in Five as a potential shop window for their product.

The Bill back up to 3m! Didn't see that one coming. The underwhelming performance of Luther helped.

The Drop held up well. I was expecting a bigger drop off than 100k. But still not a mega hit for C4.

As expected, EastEnders couldn't get the upperhand over Emmerdale when the latter had a head start.

The Mail (groan) is reporting that all current GMTV on screen staff will get the chop except Helen Fospero, they are looking to find a cheap partner for Adrian on a £100k salary and that the strand will be renamed "ITV Breakfast."

Very original.

As expected, the soap clash split the audience but the gap between the two was very small, I would have thought that there might have been a bigger gap.

Surprised to see that 'The Drop' managed to more or less hold the audience. I thought it was quite boring.

Be interesting to see if it holds that figure - it's a show where you have to get into the style of it to enjoy it and on first sight it can be a bit off putting and looks a bit cheap.

C4 have renewed The IT Crowd for a fifth series ahead of the fourth this summer - a bit of a sleeper hit really. The fourth will air in June, so presumably in the Big Brother eviction sandwich.

Survivor Finale was huge for Nine. Very rare for figures in the region of 900k to be recorded after 10:30pm!

Modern Family only lost 1,000 viewers week-on-week. If it can keep up that sort of consistency, it's going to be a monster hit for TEN.

Talent did well in Total People but as ever it skewed too old (10th in all key demos). Top Gear did very well for a repeat.

Interesting to see The Bill hit 3m again. Hardly an achievement I know, but I wonder if it was a domino effect from the hour long Emmerdale, with Millionaire up too?

Luther seems to have settled at a mediocre level, and I can't see them bringing it back with those ratings, and Corrie/BGT will knock it even further next week. Million Pound Drop held up well, and I thought it was better last night, as the pacing improved considerably.

Got Talent seems to skew old pretty much everywhere apart from in the UK for some reason, which is interesting. Speaking of demos, the first episode of Wormwood Scrubs apparently had 1.0 million 16-34s watching, which is excellent for a documentary.

Is £100k cheap? Garraway on £240k for 3 days a week was ridiculous. Glad she is going.

The GMTV seperate brand should go anyway. They should bring over someone from ITV news to do the news and move Fospero onto the couch. They have Stapelton to cover for Chiles when he is off.

Is Five actually worth much though? Its cost commitments on programming are high, its income from advertising uncertain. I dont think a stand alone buyer makes sense as RTL with deep pockets couldnt make it work, so how could Warner Bros or anyother outside organisation?

I'd say ITV or Sky are the only reasonable prospects

It is compared to what breakfast TV anchors are usually paid, but I agree that was extortionate.

The Mail notes that they won't be able to afford a big name for £100k, but that's OK. Bleakley was pretty unknown to begin with when she first started alongside Chiles on The One Show, but together they made a watchable duo and viewers responded.

It's a shame, but as long as it's not ITV or BSkyB, it could be a good thing in the long-run.
