The Mail notes that they won't be able to afford a big name for £100k, but that's OK.
Carrier Grace on BBC News was on £93k so it would be a pay raise for her!

Yes, the clue there might be she is one of the more lower profile presenters on the News Channel.

It's still a bloody good salary mind!

It is compared to what breakfast TV anchors are usually paid, but I agree that was extortionate.

The Mail notes that they won't be able to afford a big name for £100k, but that's OK. Bleakley was pretty unknown to begin with when she first started alongside Chiles on The One Show, but together they made a watchable duo and viewers responded.
Though others press are continuing with reports they're pursuing Bleakley on a £1m contract.

I only started to watch the IT crowd at the start of this year and enjoyed it, so Im happy at least it should be in a BB sandwich in June I hope so i can watch more of it... but need to watch from the beginning.
It's not a show that C4 seem to repeat that often - think it's been on More4 a couple of times, but not repeated anywhere near as often as something like Peep Show or The Inbetweeners.

I'd imagine that would be for other shows too. It makes sense in some ways to pay more if the host can do primetime shows and become a face of the channel. Which of course the current GMTV lot werent capable of doing.

Interesting to see The Bill hit 3m again. Hardly an achievement I know, but I wonder if it was a domino effect from the hour long Emmerdale, with Millionaire up too?.
Nope Millionaire lost 100k from last week.

The Bill seems to have gained the majority of its increase from CSI as it was down 200k.

20:00 Millionaire - 3.11m (14.5%
21:00 The Bill - 2.99m (13.5%)

Channel 4
18:30 Hollyoaks - 1.15m (6.7%)
20:00 Gok's Fashion Fix - 1.97m (9.2%)
* +1 251,000 (1.1%)

Five
17:30 Neighbours - 1.32m (10.6%)

21:00 CSI - 1.82m (8.2%)

BBC3
22:00 Eastenders - 1.44m (7.3%)

I watched The Bill last night and did think it was an above average episode, so its nice to see it back above 3 million. Only now it takes a 4 week break for people to forget about it.
Holby City had a poor night, although its share was reasonable. I think it dropped a little bit last year as well against the Gok Wan documentarys on C4, they seem to share a similar audience.

Million Pound Drop held up quite well - 2.08m compared to 2.16m on Monday. I thought the Bodyshock documentary would do better though - it's the sort of thing which is usually a surprise hit for C4 and I thought it would be getting 3m+ at least.

Question about ITV HD (probably answered already)- as HD figures only seem to be reported for HD native shows, are viewers watching upscaled content on ITV1 HD counted at all?

Media Guardian usually report all of the ITV HD figures but they havn't updated yet. I think all upscaled and full HD viewers are counted by them.

Anyone got any ideas how the Eurovision Semi-Final rated?

EDIT: Sorry just seen it has already been posted 373 000 (pretty low, but I'm guessing similar to usual!?)

Really pleased to see Million Pound Drop hold onto 2 million. I watched it last night and quite enjoyed it. A few tweaks here and there and I think Channel 4 can make a hit out of it.

It's bound to drop below 2m sooner or later but well worth a second run in a better slot IMO - possibly replacing Celebrity Big Brother in January.

Last years Semi Final 1 got 438,000 so this years was down by 65,000.

Not surprised though seeing as the BBC didn't even mention the semi's in the eurovision promo even though they have done in previous years.

Last years Semi FInal 1 we were voting in that semi where this year we are voting in the second one (perhaps that has an impact). In fact if you look at last years semi final 2 ratings it got 385,000 so its only slightly lower than that.

Got Talent seems to skew old pretty much everywhere apart from in the UK for some reason, which is interesting. Speaking of demos, the first episode of Wormwood Scrubs apparently had 1.0 million 16-34s watching, which is excellent for a documentary.
It seems to be particularly the case in Australia. America's Got Talent certainly doesn't skew young, but with about 35-40% aged 18-49 in most episodes, it falls between DWTS (25-30% 18-49) and American Idol (45-50% 18-49). SYTYCD skews very young as well, as much or more than Idol though we saw that wasn't replicated here. In that case I wonder if it was just to do with the channels it was on? FOX in the US skews the youngest by a few years, BBC talent shows here tend to skew older.

Is Five actually worth much though? Its cost commitments on programming are high, its income from advertising uncertain. I dont think a stand alone buyer makes sense as RTL with deep pockets couldnt make it work, so how could Warner Bros or anyother outside organisation?

I'd say ITV or Sky are the only reasonable prospects
Did RTL really put much money into it anyway?

I wouldn't have thought Sky would be allowed and what would ITV actually do with it?

But I do wonder what Warner Bros would hope to do. The only one of their shows currenty on Five is The Mentalist. And the requirement to put out stuff like Live From Studio Five would surely put them off? They'd find it easier just to set up a channel like TNT in the UK.

Million pound drop
Holding up pretty well. It does seem a bit more ITV1 material than Channel 4 but Davina may have found herself another job for when BB finishes.

Of course, I forgot we voted in semi final 1 last year, so there should be an increase for Thursday's semi.

On the Telegraph it said that Endemol might be interested in buying FIVE, but isn't Endemol and RTL the same company/owned by the same company?

No, RTL has nothing to do with Endemol. Endemol is owned by a consortium led by the top commercial broadcaster in Italy.

You may be getting confused with FremantleMedia, which makes shows such as Neighbours, The Bill and The X Factor, and is owned by RTL.

I'd assume any new owner wouldn't keep it exactly the same as it is now, a loss making channel.

Live From Studio Five is living on borrowed time at the moment.

In a digital era where ITV are allowed to not show any kids programmes in the day, I'm sure it won't be that difficult for Five to persuade Ofcom to ease its news requirements.

Ofcom's on the way out anyway, isn't it?
