Watched the episode of EE later on BBC3 and it was one of the worst episodes of EE I have ever seen...I can't actually believe how bad this show has got recently. Some of the character interaction seems to be worse than Corrie now and all this is surprising considering the show is still under the same producer. I think it's probably best next weeks episodes will be some of the lowest ever considering the material in them!
Holby obviously fell from the lack of the strong lead in and Luther seems to be holding at 4m which I doubt will get it a recomission.
No boost for Millionaire from Emmerdale suggests to me that ITV need to axe this now. It's become a really stale format, and I used to be a big fan, but I can see why viewers have deserted it.”
Well, it was on such good form, Diedrick Santer focussed solely on this 25th anniversary thing, with no plans for afterwards.
I think, after a massive storyline, it can be hard to reenergise viewers - same for me after the Richard Hillman thing on Corrie - though I don't think the Siege Week will have the same effect.
I think Emmerdale is sensible - because it is focussing more on character interaction (as Corrie used to do), and less on big, far-fetched plots.
And I genuinely think Emmerdale is the most enjoyable soap around at the moment,
I also think that viewers will tune in in the longer term for innane chattering between Norris and Mary than massive explosions. That's how Corrie has always worked - it's all been about the Northern humour, and the 'trapped' feeling of being on that Street...Morrissey (from The Smiths) has made some great observations about it in the past.
