In January certainly, and probably September. I guess May/June would depend on the weather - if it's hot, it's better off at 10pm.
In other news, the BBC are to launch BBC One HD in the autumn, with BBC HD remaining to cover BBC2-4.

A slightly limp night for ITV's soaps. Corrie has never quite consistently got back on top of EastEnders since the beginning of the year- they'll be hoping next week has some longer terms effects. Weak for All at Sea too - another flop to add to the 9pm woes of late. Thursday's are quickly becoming another problem night.
I note a pretty decent rating for Watchdog over the 8pm hour on BBC One. I know the move didn't really help the show - in content or in ratings - but it seems to have stabilised now at a very reasonable share opposite the soaps.
I'm quite sure Million Pound Drop will return for another series given the steady (and slightly growing) numbers its taken this week.

The poor showing of All at Sea seem to benefit the other three especially Five with High Plain Drifters which always seems to do well when they show it. Even Chris Barrie's show was up from what it was getting and YHBW did quite well considering it was moved to 11pm.

When Millionaire had the weekdaily format they had four series, plus a Christmas special in 1999. They ran the show in January, March, September and November. Perhaps they should do that.

Very surprising to see WDYTYA USA popping up - I expected it to end up on BBC Four. There are seven episodes in the series, but I'd expect them to drop the Spike Lee and Emmitt Smith eps, but they'd probably be the most interesting. You would have thought BBC One could have got Wall to Wall to re-edit the programme so that it lasted for 60 minutes rather than just 45.
BBC One will be pleased to see Watchdog break the four million barrier. Good figures for WILTY and HIGNFY, which I thought was absolutely hilarious last night. Hopefully it'll hold up next week as John Prescott will be hosting!
Are the iPlayer stats included in the figures BARB figures that we get every Monday or could we add those to the current figures for the shows mentioned? It amazing see the shows included on the list and how young they skew, showing just how little younger people watch live TV these days.

BBC One's Sherlock pilot won't be airing as major changes have taken place to the programme. It also says that the three-part series will start in July. I'd hold it back until the Autumn personally as it seems like something you could settle down to on a dark October night, rather than a hot July night.
ITV have scored a major own goal with the Corrie relaunch next week.
They go to all the trouble of making it in HD and stripping it nightly at 9 pm....then shoot new opening credits. These are up on You Tube and are extraordinary.
They are in pouring rain and fuzzy, out of focus and almost indecipherable. Though the scruffy pigeons are in focus!
They have spent money using CGI to put a brand new yellow tram onto the viaduct and you can barely see the viaduct let alone the tram.
The media commentators will have a field day. Good job Harry Hill is not on air.
I suspect it is near certain they are going to have to reshoot these fast.

I think the new credits look good... but i either way i dont think it will change the ratings!

Perhaps not, but they are counting on a boost from the relaunch and this might not help.. so far the comments from many of those who have previewed them seem to find them baffling.

I like them. They work well with the music. Have they re-recoded the music also as it sounds slightly different?
Oh please. You'd think such a visual effect had never been used before. The sharp focus foreground against a blurred background is hardly a new thing and it works well in these titles - and will look particularly effective on a HD screen, I'm sure of it. It's not like that's how the entire show is going to look.

Yeah, it's a new arrangement. It's nice. It's stripped down and sounds much crisper than the current theme.
Just noticed that Bruce Almighty is on BBC1 from 20:30 to 22:00, so it seems like the 9pm winner will only have 3m to 3.5m viewers...

They can't really start something new with BGT next week and then World Cup starting. Better than New Tricks rpt I reckon?

So You Think You Can Dance kicked off summer with 8.2m viewers and a 3.0 rating with adults 18-49. That's down 12% from its last summer cycle but up 11% from the special season with aired last September.
The first scripted series of the summer tanked. 100 Questions aired on NBC at 8.30pm, starred Brit Sophie Winkleman and had just a 0.8 rating and 2.5m viewers.

Divert some of the cash into primetime, for pity's sake!

They could probably stick on a drama repeat, get the same audience in daytime and add a couple more 6 part drama series to primetime (based on a £30k an hour cost for the daytime shows, 52 weeks a year and £650,000 an hour for primetime drama).

Ouch for Dickinson really, not a hit in primetime and not a hit out of it either!
The Chase isn't doing *too* badly I guess, but still I can't see ITV are proud of 11% in the 5pm slot and behind Channel 4 and probably equal to Five in the latter half of the hour.
