Agree and agree. Now the figures look much less Owch! (dammit!)()

Previous record was 0.55m for Top Gear in the officials.

How on earth can people say the Corrie and BGT figures are disappointing?!

Corrie is 2m up on what it was last week and 10.7m viewers is NOT to be sniffed at! This year has been down about 10% on last year so that figure was completely expected. Last year was just inflated due to SuBo hype. We're merely back down to the normal levels.

I bet ITV wish their other shows could "flop" with "just" 10.7m viewers.

Problem is the non-HD figures came through at 'just over' 10m. HD inflates that to nearly 11m....

This is going to be a major problem (for us ) during the World Cup with ratings, as you may have near 1m watching on HD.

some spoilers

last Ashes to Ashes got a nice round 7 million

Luther has shed loads of viewers

Junior Apprentice couldn't get 4.5 million

Springwatch dominates BBC2's top 30

BGT More Talent just fails to beat Glee to top spot amongst MC top 30's

full stuff later

The figures looked a little underwhelming without HD - I agree those are strong ratings considering it was never going to match last year's performance.

Nicely ambiguous, but I suspect we all know which version of "shed loads" is meant!

It has just fallen back down to regular levels after SuBo hype thats all. Here are the 2008 ratings.

SF1- 10.9m
SF2- 8.8m
SF3- 9.3m
SF4- 9.7m
SF5- 11.4m

As long as it doesn't drop into single figures its doing fine.

For ITV1 HD/BBC HD.

How can we find out Sky's HD ratings?

What was Glee's rating on E4 last night? Anybody know?

I calculate that BGT is just under 22% down on last year's Bank Holiday.

(In the interest of balance Springwatch is down 33% and Eastenders is down 36%)(Last year's figures 3.89m and 7.67m for anyone who wants to check my calculations.)

I thought that too. The good version would have a hyphen.

ITV1 did extremely well last night with their Corrie and BGT combination..I bet ITV1 wouldn't mind over 10 million for some of its other shows in the 9pm dead zone.

Very good night for ITV1. Surprised Eastenders didn't dent it at all.

damn you and your grammatically correct ways

maybe I was being a bit OTT, it's lost a 1.24 million week on week. I guess that's shed loads from it's debut though

anyway it's all up now

enjoy!

Poor night for BBC 1 again ITV seems to be doing very well.

Corrie is way up on what it normally gets I suppose.

BGT a bit lower than expected but it's ITV's own fault for not starting it at 8.30 after EE (EE would not have been on for 1 hour if it wasn't for the BBC trying to combat an atrociously long BGT). Both attract similar audiences.

I think the figures for ITV are a good start.

Interesting breakdown for Britain's Got Talent, it seems like some did not realise that it started at 20:00 - as there appears to be a surge in the amount of people watching TV at the time. The following is a breakdown for ITV with HD next to it:

19:00 - 07.1m (35.6%) + 275,000
19:15 - 07.8m (37.4%) + 319,000
----
19:30 - 09.3m (41.8%) + 487,000
19:45 - 09.7m (42.1%) + 475,000
20:00 - 10.6m (42.1%) + 611,000
20:15 - 10.6m (40.7%) + 641,000
20:30 - 10.1m (38.8%) + 571,000 <-- I think there were 2 breaks in this quarter hour
20:45 - 10.6m (40.2%) + 567,000
----
21:00 - 09.8m (39.0%) + 517,000
21:15 - 09.5m (37.5%) + 501,000
----
21:30 - 09.8m (38.1%) + 576,000
21:45 - 09.7m (37.9%) + 573,000

It seems like the first half an hour meant that the average was a lot down - I'm assuming that 20:00 to 21:00 including HD would have easily averaged over 11 million taking into account the 0.6m that watched on there. It'll be interesting to see what happens tonight because that first half an hour could again average under 10m because of the 'early' start and also because of EastEnders.

If we're to look at the total audience as the night went on...

19:00 - 19.9m
19:15 - 20.9m
19:30 - 22.2m
19:45 - 23.0m
20:00 - 25.2m
20:15 - 26.0m
20:30 - 26.0m
20:45 - 26.4m
21:00 - 25.1m
21:15 - 25.3m
21:30 - 25.7m
21:45 - 25.6m

That in my view, proves that a lot of people thought it started at 8pm leading to over 2m new viewers. What I think happened is that 1.1m 'left' BGT to watch EastEnders, and 2.2m 'new' viewers tuned on thinking BGT was just starting whereas in reality it was half an hour in.

And those 26.4m that were watching at 20:45, 1.3m tuned out as soon as it finished. Tuned out of watching TV, I mean. I don't think the schedule backfired, I just don't think it worked as well as anticipated.

HD averages were:

19:00 - Coronation Street: 297,000
19:30 - Britain's Got Talent: 559,000
21:00 - Coronation Street: 509,000
21:30 - Britain's Got Talent: 574,500

Even with the Hd figures, i dont see the point of the new schedule. Corrie will get a small boost but with the world cup starting next week the soaps will be all over the place. I doubt it will make much difference in the long run.

I expected around a 10-12% fall,

I would call a 3m and 10 share points fall year on year a dent. Im not saying the entire 3 million fall is related to EE but it obviously had an effect.

I don't know if I was just jetlagged, but I thought BGT was dreadful last night. The acts were almost all embarrassingly bad. I've not seen any of the auditions so it's all new to me but a guy chopping wood on ITV primetime? Jesus. Some kid who couldn't pronounce any of the words in the song as far as I could tell, some dreadful camp Butlins-esque entertainer? The guy swallowing lightbulbs was OK only because I was willing him to lose Amanda's ring.

Anyway, 10m+ viewers was more than it deserved I thought. Also the studio seemed as flat as a fart, the atmosphere of last year has been lost, Dec looked fat, Simon looked bored and Piers was pathetic.

Anyone know the ratings for the new 5 o`clock Show on C4 at 5pm please ? Will be interesting to see if they compare favourably with the old Paul O`Grady show

2009's Monday Show
21:00 to 22:30 - 13.6m (52%)
* peak: 14.5m (59%)

2010's Monday Show
19:30 to 21:00 - 10.7m (43%)
* peak: 11.2m (43%)
21:30 to 22:00 - 10.3m (40%)
* peak: 10.4m (40%)

I think its unfair to make a like-to-like comparison, of course its down on last year, no ones doubting that, but had ITV kept a 'normal' schedule, Britain's Got Talent would have been a lot higher. I think their schedule was designed to:

a) maximise Corrie's "Siege Week" storyline
b) maximise BGT's and Corrie's HD figures

I think realistically, they would have known (I hope) that the shows would have been somewhat down this year.
