I'd move BGT to 7pm and have Corrie at 9pm, with results at 9.30pm.

I know they won't split BGT at this late stage and just shove Corrie on at 10pm but a separate results show actually works best during the final (as opposed to the semi-finals where it's utterly pointless).

The first half would then clash with Doctor Who though, plus it's likely to be nice weather on Saturday. An episode at 10pm Saturday night may be best, if not completely unusual.

According to the person who informed him, they're moving back Batman Begins to 22:30 and airing Corrie at 22:00. It'll get a ~15m lead-in, so should do fine.

BGT has been clashing with EE all week anyway. Plus it allows the results to attract a higher average as a standalone ep.

I said this in the corrie thread but think it is worth repeating - while I have no problem with the decision to pull Corrie tonight - I cannot believe it right just to show the remaining episodes from tommorrow. Surely if you are really being respectful you need a reasonable delay - like show them next week.

Maybe they could do BGT results at 10pm, after Corrie at 9.30pm.

ITV could try and get special allowance from whoever it is who controls kids tv hours, to allow them on air at 10pm. It won't be a school night after all.

Poor High Street Dreams, even removed from the final, final schedules.

Junior Apprentice is trending 3rd worldwide on Twitter at the moment, no sign of Britain's Got Talent there, but Twitter goes crazy over Apprentice related shows for some unknown reason.

There's something seriously wrong with Twitter's algorithm for the trending topics. 'BGT' had about 230 tweets per minute tonight during the performance show - way more than Junior Apprentice - yet it didn't trend!

Its against the law. the law is enforced by the relevant local authority. I dont think any exceptions are permitted

god some people really annoy me( no nesissarly on this thread! ) for numerous reasons. especially on a day like this!

Firstly saying that ITV should have not moved Corrie !
Secondly that it's only a soap - even sayings it's ITV's fault for having a violent storyline!
And thirdly and the most laughable - that they should just get red of this storyline and just air normal episodes. - yeah cause that would look good, 2 people kidnapped then showing next weeks episodes when there walking about the street!

You didn't read the rest of my post did you? It would be Emmerdale on at 8pm if they bumped Emmerdale out of the schedule on Friday. And then as I said in an earlier post they could air an hour long Corrie at 7pm and hour long Emmerdale at 8pm instead of having Emmerdale/Corrie/Emmerdale/Corrie which is just silly. Then they're back up to date.

I apologise if I came across as being insensitive a couple of pages ago. I don't think I did, but I really would hate to think I was brushing aside today's tragic events. As I don't actually watch Coronation Street I only have a vague idea of this week's big storyline, and if they involve more gun use than I realised, then ITV did make the right decision. I was just commenting on programmes being pulled in reflection of news events and how it isn't often needed, and whilst I maintain that it isn't always appropriate, having thought about it, I do think ITV made the right decision tonight, and I called it wrong earlier. I do apologise if anyone took my posts in a way they weren't meant though, as today's tragedy is utterly horrific.

Back on the topic of ratings (almost seems inappropriate to say this) I wonder how Harry Hill did in the sandwich tonight, as whilst some viewers may have switched to Junior Apprentice, more may have been interested in tonight's BGT results as for once it was actually a tough call. Also, light entertainment will have been what many people wanted after hearing about the tragedy today. As for BGT itself, it was a really good show tonight, after last night's drivel, and it will have benefitted from the lack of EastEnders competition, so it should have got the highest audience of the week for the performances show at least.

i sort of understand if people haven't seen it or don't know the exact storyline going on, but at least you have seen what other people have put and take other peoples opinions on board.
I've seen so many post along the lines of - "why the hell should they pospone corrie, it's only a soap"
but i think many people would agree as you say many programmes don't need pulling because of smaller events.


i imagine it might - especially with weak competiton from JA.
Although, lets not forget it was a "Best Of" and they normally rate less well - don't they?
Also people were asking earlier weather or not it was a repeat - i'm an avid HH fan and i'm 95% sure it was!

I wouldn't be surprised to see TV Burp drop to 5-7m viewers and I think the BGT results show will be quite a bit down on the performance show. I think ITV axing tonights Corrie might have just saved a bit of face for JA, I now think it will have got about 4-5m so it might not all collapse after all. If I'm right, next weeks Apprentice v Big Brother will be an interesting battle.

The guy impersonating Harry on BGT tonight got a bit of an unexpected boost!

He was quite good though. Most impressionists only get the voice element right, but he had the mannerisms down to a tee as well.

on both his performances his done the "fight" bit wrong - he doesn't say the right words!

I think as an avid HH fan i am comparing him too much to HH himself!

To bring it back to ratings a little bit if it was a new one i think it could match the X Factor sandwitch episode, but a best of proberly won't - depends because as we have seen , JA isn't doing that great, so people might just stick with it waiting for the BGT results.

IMO, itv shouldnt of got rid of corrie, but oh well... i think the best option would be to have it at 10pm on friday, people arnt going to watch the 9pm one and then not bother watching it again at 10!! and news at 10 is moved a lot on fridays anyway! Saturday is ok, but people arnt used to having soaps on a weekend... but there again it would have the bgt final as a lead in! either way i think the ratings will be the same tbh!

BARB will probably report ITV ratings for the match only, but BBC1's for the entire coverage...

That said, if both networks start their England coverage an hour or so before kick off and BARB reports the full broadcast average, and with Cowell seemingly going pffffffttt, then maybe EastEnders has a chance of retaining the no 1 spot in 2010?

not completly HH but tonight HH was the main part of his act.

Wheras in the auditions he just did random impersinations - by doing HH he was able to do other ones as part of the act. without it just being random ones like in the audition.

In fairness, I did catch part of the 9.30 show tonight. I was really impressed with the first contestant, the young singer, who did seem really quite talented. I was going to revise my opinion about the show.

But apparently it was Pixie Lott.

I didn't hang about for the Harry Hill tribute act...
