Don't think anyonehas actually said its Danielle's fault - she hasn't been instrumental in this, but unfortunately for her she may suffer the backlash.

Either ALW is not very bright/doesn't remember how his comments backfired last year/is arrogant enough to not care. But he has done her no favours.

Although to be honest, SH has been even worse - her blatant favouritism has been on a higher level and only served to amplify what ALW is saying. Hearing it in sterio makes it worse!!

Exactly. No one is saying it is Danielle's fault, as her fans seem to suggest. It is possible to think she is 'The Chosen One', and gets preferential treatment while STILL thinking she is amazing and wanting her to win.

And agreed about Sheila. I find ALL of her comments nauseating (not just to Danielle).

"The Chosen One" rarely ends up in the bottom 2 in these type of shows. Therefore Sophie is the secret chosen one and you have all been played.

Whilst I don't think any of the over-praise can possibly be Danielle's fault, some of us just do NOT see the perfection ALW sees.

Maybe it's height of the pedestal that she is placed upon that clouds the perfection !!

No, I prefer the vulnerability of Sophie, and hope to see her ion the final.

No, theyre not saying the comments are her fault, but they ARE having this nice big backlash about how bland, dull, uncharismatic, unable to sing/dance/act she is - her fans, myself included, are unsurprisingly on the defensive, this forum is giving her a lot more stick than any other contestant for no reason other than that the judges like her.

I know people aren't sayin its her fault, I just dont think its fair for Danielle to get backlash when she hasnt said or done a thing wrong. If people cant warm to her like i cant to some contestants then fair enough but why do threads about it need to be started, why cant people just concentrate on their favourite and be positive.

And not even all the judges, Charlotte keeps going on about how good Lauren is and didnt give Danielle great comments last night.

She's not 'chosen' though, that's up to the public. She may be preferred by ALW and Sheila...but they are asked their opinions....the other girls get praised too...it's not like Danielle is the only one to be praised. Last night we were told that Sophie would be the 'beloved Dorothy' if she wins....high praise indeed for someone not the 'chosen one'....

They like who they like...much as we do...they have bucket loads of experience and probably see things that they know would be easier to work with....they have left it up to the public though and will work with whoever is chosen, you can't knock them for saying who they prefer.....unless you want them to lie....

As you can see from my previous posts I am firmly in the Sophie camp.

The problem I have with Danielle, is that I truly do NOT see the perfection that is being thrust on us, particularly bt ALW.

She will make a very good Dorothy if she wins the show, as will all 4 girls, but she is not "perfect" for the role IMO.

I would prefer Sophie....she has a vulnerability, and likeablity...something in common with the original Dorothy. The wonderful Judy Garland. (No I am not suggesting that we compare the two, just that these are two elements the role requires.)

Danielle is not "innocent & and vulnerable" , she is too polished, as is Lauren, and to a lesser degree is Steph.

Any one of the 4 will make an excellent Dorothy, it all down to personal choice.

It's all a matter of preference though, and as much as I like Sophie, I don't see vulnerability, I see nervous awkwardness. She's an incredible singer, but she hasn't yet managed to become the person she is portraying in any of the songs. She gets it almost right, but it never gets to her eyes, they still seem a bit bunny in headlights to me.

If she wins, then good luck to her, and that goes for whoever wins.

I just think it's unfair to use any praise for Danielle against her. I like her despite what the panel or ALW says, not because of it.

I see this with Sophie, but it's all part of her charm, and I have no doubt that the intensive training to be afforded the winning Dorothy will help her overcome any negative traits, if she wins.

Sophie has a steely determination, she must have to get this far.

As for Danielle, she is suffering from the... "ALW Favourite Syndrome"....Will ALW never learn that the GBP like to make up their own minds.

No, it's not fair to Danielle when the praise is turned in on her, but at the end of the day she will undoubtedly have a very fine career with ALW championing her, and fans like you .

We all have our preferences and any of the 4 could carry the role good luck to them all.

Meet you here on final night, when one of us will console the other ....

The test meets the objective of sending some home , rather than showing each one at their best as a potential Dorothy. Its like an A level where some students get GCSE papers and some get degree ones in another subject and where the aim is to reduce the pass rate not increase it.

The underlying problem is that he already knows who he wants and who he doesn't want before most of the live shows have happened.Thats clearly the case here. Its far from clear if his judgement is that good or imaginative given who he has missed previously and the silly arguments he often has to resort to to send people home.The result is that this audition process is ultimately unconvincing. People go because of things the public are not aware of (note the thing about regional accents this week) because he's making judgements about who is safe rather than good, he's guessing who will be like what in 8 months time and because he is interested in getting who he's decided is what he wants and who he can sell to the voters. If you did have an open audition where everyone was allowed to show off what their Dorothy would be like, things might be very different.

His two best choices are there - but the operative word is his Danielle meets both requirements of being who he wants and being someone who meets the lookalike criteria the public have voted for in the past - the problem is that he has had difficulty selling her even after anyone similar and the major alternatives have been removed. Lauren is the best singer and you suspect appeals to the musician in him and would do if Danielle can't make it. Sophie is a mystery he may still be exploring.Its very like the first series - Lauren has a proven vote problem like Helena , Danielle with a good song may not, Sophie like Siobhan is the inexperienced candidate needing time. The major alternatives to Danielle and the other people who might have pulled out a series winner in the final - Stephanie, Jenny, Jessica and Steph have all been taken out by poor songs, comments and VTs when they seemed to have support or momentum.”

I'd say this has been the case since Maria was chosen, but over the different series ALW has become more skilled at influencing the results. Having said that, I doubt if he thinks there is anything wrong in what he is doing. His response would probably be the public get to vote every week - and they do!

I find the obession with the backlash against Danielle just laughable. Most people who watch the show just watch it on the night, they either like a performance or not,they may or may not vote. They certainly don't over analyse every judges comment, think there is a favorite or "Chosen One". They won't give OTR a second thought till the final next Saturday

The backlash with strictly occured because the judges were just soo nasty to John Sargent. Non of the judges in OTR have picked on the girls, so there will be no backlash.

Also I feel that the GBP would be horrfied to know that people were being so unkind to Danielle, they just might vote for her out of sympathy!

One thing that's a bit of a puzzle is the accusation that the theory about Danielle being "the chosen one" was started by fans of the other girls in order to do Danielle down.

Infact the "chosen One" theory was actually started by the same OP who started the Danielle Hope Appreciation thread!!
