From the Doctor Who News Page :

The Scotsman
is reporting that a new Doctor Who Stage Show will tour the UK later this year.

The BBC Worldwide show, titled Doctor Who: Here Come The Monsters will be in a similar format to the the successful Walking with Dinosaurs Arena tour last year.

The show will take place in a large staged area on the Arena floor and will feature special effects, and video scenes shot with Matt Smith. It will include stage battles between the Daleks and the Cybermen and be accompanied a live orchestra playing music by composer Murray Gold who said "The live element always adds something extra, but these will also be brand new arrangements for a new band of very talented musicians. It's very exciting."

Nine venues are to be included on the tour including the Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow. The show has been developed in association with executive producer Steven Moffat, who said: "This is everything I ever wanted since I was 11. A live show, with all the coolest Doctor Who monsters, a proper story, and brand new screen material.

More details should be available shortly and tickets are expected to go on sale in the next month.

My brother just rang me to tell me about this, adn I'm very excited! Does anyone have any idea how much the tickets are likely to be?

Argh, why'd it have to Wembley Arena and not the O2 in London! Wembley's gotten better since they refurbished it but it's still a lousy place to see anything. Plus the venue staff had a spirited attempt at murdering me last week by mopping the concourse 10 minutes before the show started and failing to put out any wet floor signs....

Aaaaanyway, if they don't overprice this it could be a really good show. Have to see what the tickets come in at but I'd certainly be interested in going along.

I would think so. From the Sun website:

“But new Doctor Matt Smith will not appear. He and assistant Karen Gillan have filmed special clips to be shown on giant screens.”

Sounds like the live power rangers show that I saw at Wembley Arena when I was younger!

Hope they get some decent people for the weeping angels. Last thing you want to see is one tipping over when the lights come on.

OUCH! Considering London usually adds on a fiver to most ticket prices that's a heck of a lot, pushing it into a really good live music ticket range.

CIA in Cardiff is pricing them between £20.00 - £38.50, I'm guessing the more expensive ones will be front seats

Sheffield Arena for me:

Quote:
“Taking in nine cities and 25 dates, Doctor Who Live will stop off at Sheffield Arena Tuesday 12th & Wednesday 13th October. Tickets priced £38.50, £34.50 and £25.00 (may be subject to booking fee) go on sale at 9am on Friday 21st May.”

So does that mean there's no point me sitting up until the early hours of fri morn tying to book?

One thing I'd suggest, check the Sheffield Arena web site and see if they've got an e-mail newsletter subscription link anywhere on there. I've done this trick with Wembley and occasionaly they'll do a limited pre-sale a day or so before general release for subscribers. Plus it doesn't cost anything so why not?

Just to add something for those thinking of going to Wembley who haven't been before: if it's an all-seating layout (which I'd expect) avoid the central arena seats like they're in the mouth of a Star Whale. First row or two is okay but there's no rake whatsoever for the first two blocks so if you get someone tall in front you're screwed. Blocks C and D are stepped but I think I'm right in saying there's actually two rows on each step so, again, if you get someone tall in front of you you're going to get a good view of the backs of their heads.

Side seating is better than it used to be with a halfway decent amount of space but as always try to get as far towards the stage as you can. Even number blocks are on the bottom tier, odd number on the upper and it does get pretty steep near the top so bear that in mind. Decent views though and a reasonable rake so you should get to see pretty much everything, especially if everyone's sitting down. Oh, and the construction is such that any spilled drink WILL make its way down to the very bottom row so expect anything you leave under the seat to get wet.

End seating in the East terrace is okay if they make it cheap enough but you're going to be watching the performance mostly on video screens. Personally I'd stil go for that over blocks C and D on the floor though.

Hope that helps someone, if not sorry for wasting your time
