USB powered drive
It was an input from you Graham that finally triggered my venture into EXT3..
However i now note that the usb slot will power out at up to 500mA and am concerned at the possibility that the drive current may be at or around this value. My WD 2.5 Elememts 320G has a front facing White drive tell-tale LED.. This lights up the lounge when on.. No details seem available as to Drive currents and am concerned that I may be pushing the power supply of the Humax.. Does usb Power fail gracefully and then reset..? Stan |

The port will be current limited so the drive will simply not work if it won't provide enough current. I use a 500GB usb powered drive on mine with no problems. I have to use 2 usb ports to power it on my netbook.

I have used a Toshiba 320Gb USB powered laptop sized drive on my one with no issues.

but No thumbnails!
I was/am delighted but had perhaps hoped for too much..
Since my 'No overnight update of Thumbnails'.. I have become very aware of their presence.. Hence astonished/disappointed/gutted at... 'No thumbnails on anything on my USB1 Drive..' Everything else is so perfect.. I honestly do not want all you lot to be inthis boat but perhaps you are.. and have not let on.. Am i alone ![]() ![]() Stan |

Thanks GC..
My enquiring mind wonders if that limitation also applies to an ORIGINAL Main hard drive used as USB.. like Graham does I believe.. What a design that has acres of processor/storage for FAVS that hardly anyone uses.. and something as basic as this is omitted.. I just find it hard to believe. I was astonished to see all those DVD icons with crosses..now they are so helpful. |

The USB will only drive specially low power designs as used in usb 2.5" HDD's. To use the original or a 1TB drive connected to USB it is required to use a seperate power supply. A sata caddy or drive cradle will come with own power supply
