Cat "fit"?
Doug P

Hi folks,

My elderly cat was sleeping in the sun yesterday when he suddenly started shaking all over, paws at the front curled in. We stroked and calmed him down, then after some yowling and other weird noises he had a drink and a meal and went to sleep.

He seems fine now.

He isn't underweight, dehydrated, or in anyway unhappy.

Any ideas?

Seeing as he was asleep it could have just been that he was having a dream. Ours sometimes twitches and makes little meows when he's asleep which is perfectly normal.

I've never noticed my boy have a fit, but he occasionally has what I would call a nightmare, where he jigs about while clearly asleep. I usually call out his name and he wakes up.

Sometimes he will suddenly wake from a drowse with a loud hiss, followed by a pathetic meow, and rush over for some comfort.

Thanks folks. Will keep a close eye out and hope it was a one off.
