Seriously? Can anyone really be that deluded and critical? Wishful thinking at it's finest. We can't know for sure who is gay or straight. Of course the gay and bisexual people will be vastly outnumbered (as we are everywhere) but I'm sure there are a few closeted people. But we can't say for sure who it is or isn't.”

I meant hypocritical not critical

Basically I was saying some people would argue black was white, and a few people on DS try and convince themselves EVERYONE is gay with no proof, and deny more factual things. People on gay sites make fun of posters on here

In conspiracists' minds, and essentially these are conspiracy theories, lack of proof is evidence that they're right. It's absurd reasoning but there you go.

By the same token, not everyone is straight and in a lot of cases there is no smoke without fire.

I don't think every celeb is in the closet, but I think there are a fair few.

I am not saying no one is. I'm sure a few are. But you cannot say for a fact someone is gay or not. That is my problem. Some of the "evidence" is hilarious. Surely people cannot seriously believe "a source" saying someone gay makes it a fact, and that any relationship is clearly a cover up. They contradict themselves at every turn and deep down must know they are wrong. I hope so

Also, we all know being gay or bisexual is a huge minority. The 1 in 10 figure has been shown to be incorrect. Some have it at about 1.5 to 2% which I think is a bit low, I personally think it is more like 5%. We are hugely outnumbered! So the probability is that most famous people are straight.

But people argue black is white and believe what they want to believe with any rumours and claim anything is fact. It's not just regarding sexuality. I bet loads of Bieber fans will deny it if he has a girlfriend etc.

Speculating is different than stating something as fact. For example I wouldn't be surprised if Ellen Page or Kristen Stewart were gay or bisexual. But I won't state my opinion as fact. You just get laughed at and called deluded

Bob Monkhouse? Where on Gods Earth did you get that from. He was a notorious womaniser and had been married twice with kids and grandkids..

Your mother may be very perceptive!

I certainly don't buy the Cheryl/ Derek "romance". My imagination doesn't stretch that far.

I'm not sure where I got it from, to be honest, I always had it in my head he was. Maybe I'm mixing him up with someone else? I had no idea he had been a big womaniser, so I'm way off the mark with that one.

(At least) one of The Wanted is blatantly gay. Or at least he does a very good job of coming across as someone desperately pretending to be straight.

Justin Bieber, I have no idea. He's an evangelical Christian, isn't he? So even if he were gay, we'd probably never know.

Louis Walsh gay?!? NO WAY.

Attackmusic - whatever the percentage is among the general public, I don't think that there's much doubt that its quite a lot higher in showbusiness. And in America especially, it pays to stay in the closet.

Louise Walsh is i think,he just dosen't shout it from the rooftops, neither does he go in for beards. He has no need to because nobody cares as he has never been portrayed as a ladies man. I love Louise

I think far too many people are convinced that people are either gay or straight when in fact, most people fall somewhere on the spectrum between the two & in order to fit in, people have to label themselves as one or the other rather than bi.

I have a male friend who used to identify as gay but said to me that he had a lot of bad feeling directed towards him by other gay men because he admitted that he still fancied women. He's now married to a woman. He's not straight, he's just married to someone he loves. Likewise my mum is bi but currently married to a man who is the love of her life.

Also, being camp doesn't make someone gay. The best example of this is David Walliams who doesn't even give the smallest beep on my gaydar!

I'm 95% straight myself but have a unnerring ability to be drawn towards people (not always in terms of fancying) who turn out to be gay or bi.

I was madly in love with Cliff as a child & in denial for years that he was gay as I wanted to marry him when I was old enough! However, I now have it on good authority that he is at least bi & he's pretty much confirmed it himself now by terming himself 'an enigma'!

I was at Uni in the area Robbie Williams comes from when Take That first came on the scene & word in the nightclubs round there back then was that he was bi.

In terms of Simon Cowell, my money would be on largely a-sexual bi-sexual comittment-phobe. I think he does fancy women. I wouldn't personally say I thought he liked men but you never know. I think he's afraid of losing his millions to a grasping Heather Mills type but needs to be clearly 'straight' to make it big in the States - hence a well publicised engagement with someone he appears not to actually love. Purely business.

Can you prove this? No.
Again, another statistic people can make up to make what they are saying seem more plausible. There is no evidence to suggest there are more gay people in show business than anywhere else. I wouldn't give a damn if there was (I am bisexual myself) but I highly doubt it.

It is just a bit hypocritical, because people go mad when people suggest homosexuality doesn't exist. Which is infuriating, but why's it worse than someone claiming that more people in showbiz are gay when they have no proof and have just pulled a made up stat out of their head Speculation is fun, but saying something is a fact without proof is wrong.

Also, don't get me started on gay people who attack people for being bisexual. How can you expect to be accepted for your sexuality when you insult others for theirs? It's the same as straight men who hate gay men but love lesbians, and lesbians and gay men attacking each other and I am sure some bisexual people criticise people who are completely gay.

Being gay doesn't give you the right to criticse other people's sexuality. It is still bigotry. It doesn't make sense and is partly why homosexuality still isn't accepted by many IMO. Of course some people are just ignorant and nasty, but some of them probably see hypocritical comments from gay men and women attacking others for their sexuality and beliefs and wonder why they should listen to someone who is doing exactly what they are rallying against. It's only a small minority of the LGBT community (most of us accept anyone's sexuality, cos we know how it feels) but I do think those few hold us back

Honestly, we have enough problems as it is without their being in fighting amongst the LGBT crowd. We get enough hassle as it is for being a very small minority. How can someone honestly complain when someone is homophobic towards them and yet feel comfortable attacking someone cos they are bi etc?

Rant over

What makes you think Lewis Hamilton is gay (he is my all time hero BTW)? He seems straight to me - had a long time girlfriend from Hong Kong before he was famous (I have loads of pics of them) plus there was the kiss and tell http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...icle479171.ece

I don't think he's gay at all. Not that it matters, but I just would like to know why you think that?

Well, for what it's worth, Lewis Hamilton doesn't show up on my gaydar, Jaques Villeneuve does however.
